Bound For Glory IV Preview and Predictions
Bimbo Brawl- The Beautiful People and Cute Kip vs ODB, Rhaka Khan and Rhino
This match doesn’t have the feel of a BFG big time match. I would barely book this for a PPV as it feels like a last minute TV Match to put six TNA Stars on the card. Another gripe I have is that the same night TNA is holding their Monster’s Ball Match, the most Hardcore and violent match of the year, they are also holding a much tamer Bimbo Brawl which can be seen on TNA iMPACT every week. What has happened to Rhino? At Bound For Glory 2005 he won the World Heavyweight Championship and now he is in an unimportant mixed six person tag. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Winners: Rhino, ODB and Rhaka Khan when Rhino “Gores the whore”, then Gores Kip through a table.
Steel Asylum Match
A few problems with this match: 1) We don’t know the participants yet so unless we get some big surprises, it won’t be worth it 2) We saw the Steel Asylum only a few short months ago 3) What are these wrestlers fighting for, nothing has been announced 4) This is yet another gimmick match and yet another multi-man match to get everyone on the show, just like Lockdown. I would assume that Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, the Machine Guns, Shark Boy, Curry Man, Petey Williams and one or two other wrestlers are participants in this match. I enjoyed the first Steel Asylum Match, this one should be entertaining.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt
Knockouts Championship (Traci Brooks as Referee) Taylor Wilde vs Awesome Kong vs Roxxi
Three Special Referee/Enforcer Matches in one show, when will TNA Creative learn? I am excited for this one but the build could have been much better. Taylor is sinking as champion while Roxxi is getting pretty good pops. The question is will Kong do what she does best?
Winner and new Knockout Champion: Roxxi the Hardcore Knockout
X Division Championship- Sheik Abdul Bashir vs Consequences Creed
I think a big problem about the build of BFG is that there were only four weeks between No Surrender and BFG when TNA needed like five or six. While there is a history between Bashir and Creed, it could be so much bigger than it is. I like Bashir as champion but don’t think Creed can suffer another loss.
Winner and New X Division Champion: Consequences Creed to continue feuding with Bashir
Monster’s Ball for the World Tag Team Titles (Mongo McMichael as Referee)- Beer Money vs LAX vs Team 3D vs Matt Morgan and Abyss
This match should be split in two rather than one big hardcore mess. Like I stated before I wanted Beer Money vs LAX for the Tag Titles (I suggested LAX split up if they lost) so there is more focus on the tag belts. I also would be fine with Matt Morgan and Abyss vs Team 3D in a Monster’s Ball (I suggested Mick Foley as referee). Despite that and Mongo, this match should be pretty good yet chaotic. I expect the monster Abyss to regain his masochistic tendencies while Team 3D debuts flaming tables in Chicago for TNA. In the end Beer Money needs to look strong.
Winners and still champions: Beer Money
3-Way Match- Christian Cage vs Booker T vs AJ Styles
I am not that excited about this match. I am more excited about what’s in Booker’s briefcase than who will win this match. This one is the first of three matches representing the Veterans vs Young Lions storyline. This match should be solid but I think with Booker in the mix, it won’t be great.
Winner: Christian Cage
Jeff Jarrett vs Kurt Angle (Mick Foley as Guest Enforcer)
This match and the main event are the only two matches on the BFG Card that have that big time feel to it. This feud is personal and interesting. With TNA’s new direction focusing on a more real life product, this match becomes that much better. What should play into this match is Jeff Jarrett’s ring rust. Mick Foley will likely be an integral part in the result after Angle tries to cheat.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett
World Heavyweight Championship- Samoa Joe vs Sting
This is the face of the Veterans vs Young Lions feud and it is a battle of respect. Sting has walked into two Bound For Glory PPVs and has walked out World Champion. I originally believed this match would be a shoe in win for Samoa Joe until TNA laid down the “no rematch clause”. That means there are no second chances for Sting and more importantly Samoa Joe. With that clause, it will build off of what the major storyline is about. I want to see the angle go into high gear, and the result of this match will put it there. I think Sting will hold his own but Samoa Joe will have the match wrapped up. Kevin Nash will come down to the ring and cost Samoa Joe the World Title. The aftermath will be important as Joe won’t get another shot at the title while Sting is champion. Joe can go onto feuding with Kevin Nash while Sting can defend the title against Jarrett and eventually AJ Styles. You can likely expect a “Fire Russo” chant if this comes to fruition.
Winner and new World Champion: Sting
OVERALL PPV THOUGHTS: Compared to past Bound For Glory events, this one has been poorly built. My preference for the best BFG was Bound For Glory 2006 and TNA has yet to top that one. The only match on the card that have received the amount of build they need are the main event and Jarrett vs Angle. The undercard just doesn’t impress me. Hopefully the PPV will standout this year as BFG usually does but we shall see.
