Backstage Update – Ric Flair’s WWE Return

Backstage Update – Ric Flair’s WWE Return

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Monday Night on RAW, AJ Lee was removed as the General Manager of RAW. The idea of AJ being removed as RAW General Manager was scripted months ago, as far back as late August. At the time, Ric Flair was to be brought in as the new authority figure. With next Monday’s RAW taking place from Charlotte, North Carolina, there’s more speculation that Flair will be returning as we reported yesterday here on the website.

However, just a few days ago, people in WWE were under the impression that WWE won’t sign Flair until they were certain it would not hurt their case in the ongoing TNA vs. WWE lawsuit. WWE is being very careful about not playing into TNA’s argument that “WWE is tampering with TNA talent.” At this time, they won’t even let Jerry Brisco visit his son Wes in Orlando because it could be seen as a WWE executive meeting with a TNA contracted wrestler.

The feeling is that Flair will be joining WWE as soon as possible, but some people in WWE have been surprised that Vince McMahon is being so cautious about the situation. The thought is that the old Vince would not be intimidated by anybody and would have done whatever he wanted.

Kinda tired with these type of topics…. but I'll bite.

The reason why Vince hasn't made the move yet is because he's got a pretty dang good legal team. Vince won't publicly acknowledge TNA, but he realizes how far they've come in such little time. That part scares him. Especially when he's seen the difference of how the Attitude era drew compared to what his company puts on tv now.

      TNA is awesome.

LOL at the Vince is scared comment haha…… I bet you any money in the world he isnt. Legal matters may be the closest to the truth as to why Flair isnt on WWE TV. If Flair shows up monday then we will know it wasnt legal matters, they were simply waiting to the right time to use him.

I remember when wwf worked with ecw. While signed to wwe, Jerry the king lawler showed up at a ppv wearing his king suit and kicked just about the whole rosters ass with help from rvd and sabu (except for when tazz showed up) Called ecw a bingo hall and everything that night was great. Even rvd showed up on wwf raw a couple of times while signed with ecw. I would have loved wwe to have worked with tna like that, but with this little sue thing tna is doing to wwe, not only can wrestlers from wwe or tna not jump ship while this is going on, I never see them working together like vince mcmahon did with ecw

    • TnaCanada1 says:

the problem with that is tna would send jeff hardy and wwe would send primo and epico

      • DJBIGCG says:

Maybe tna canada but I bet the only reason tna gave jeff hardy the world title is because they want him to stay in tna and not go to wwe when his contract is up

        • ariesstormjoe says:

well thats obvious no company/sports team etc wants to lose a top star. if tna feel they can keep jeff hardy they will try.

        • Leg Drop Jobber says:

The belt is a prop. MONEY and PROPER BOOKING is what keeps talent on the roster. Without those two things, the belt means little to the person wearing it and more to the fans.

          See MIKE AWESOME.

    • Dante_Cross says:

They did that with ECW because they were not a threat to WWE. TNA is closer a threat as can be right now. What is more likely is WWE doing that with ROH, seeing as they are at least acknowledging that 'OK, we've had a lot of guys the last few years come from ROH, maybe we should give them a better look through'. And it's obvious WWE holds ROH in some regard as they've even mentioned them on a time or two.

    • ariesstormjoe says:

i cant see that idea ever working. wwe would just make any talent tna send over look rubbish. including kurt angle. eventually the lawsuit will be over then flair, shelley (i take it), possibly some others ex tna talents get hired. like amazing red. cant see them doing much with them sorts tho.

    • Sturk says:

TNA vs WWE shouldnt be looked at like WWE vs ECW. Its not the same…. It's more like WWE vs. WCW. TNA may not be as big as WCW was but the two companies are more along that note and will may never work with eachother. But never say never…. But i do know that TNA will never be a farm league to WWE.

    Partial Source:

At this time, former TNA star Ric Flair is expected to make his return to the WWE in the very near future, possibly as early as next Monday’s RAW in Charlotte, NC to get involved in the AJ, John Cena and Vickie Guerrero angle. Flair has canceled an upcoming independent booking he was scheduled to have in North Carolina, which may be another hint that he will be making his return to WWE.

It has been expected that Flair would be making a WWE return, but with the TNA vs. WWE lawsuit still ongoing, many feel that it has delayed Flair’s return.

Tgis is tna news. Not wwe and tna news!

  8. Firestormdzl says:

Sorry but I don't know anyone from wwe. Now when you talk about AJ, take note that the most phenomenal AJ in the industry is AJ Styles. Ric Flair can do whatever he wants, so maybe you should drop Flair's story as he's a wwe guy right now, but if you want to talk about AJ, please make sure it's about AJ Styles.

  9. destroyer_v39 says:

I know this won't happen at all, but I think what would make wrestling fun if TNA pays WWE to use like John Cena/CM Punk/Dolph Ziggler in there wrestling show for like a month or WWE to pay TNA to use Austin Aries/AJ Styles/Somoa Joe. Like what they did with Christian short promo or like what they do with wrestling vets like Vader/Sid/Sgt Slaughter. Sounds stupid cause it's going to hurt one of there business, but it's the only way to see a TNA wrestler going against a WWE wrestler instead of seeing one gets fired and waiting for them to jump ship to the other organization.
