Backstage Update – The Great Muta’s TNA Relationship

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Pro wrestling legend The Great Muta recently noted that TNA iMPACT! Wrestling would not be a part of the debut event for his new Wrestle-1 promotion.

As reported earlier this year, the Japanese legend met with Jeff Jarrett and other TNA officials in Nashville about the possibility of sharing talent amongst the two promotions.

According to the recent Muta interviews in Japan, TNA and Wrestle-1 will not be sharing talent, as least not yet.

That's a shame, would have been good to promote some Japanese talent in TNA, and vice versa.

  2. Laker says:

    Well someone blew it

  3. annil8or4321 says:

they should all reconsider it would be great exposure for both

  4. jbcissom says:

I think the reason TNA is not sharing talent is because of the contract situations and "new" faces we're supposed to be seeing in the future.

  5. Dante_Cross says:

Find a better article. It states that they will be exhcnanging talent, but mainly developmental and that is because W-1 only has 10 wrestlers right now.
Also, Muta stated that he will do a talent exchange and wants to make a 4-tier exchange with TNA, Europe, Mexico, and Japan

TNA doesn't need foreign wrestlers unless they can actually speak English. Otherwise there's nothing they can do creatively.

    • Vampirofan says:

Yup. Cos wrestlers need to be able to speak English don't they. What about Kane? When he first came into WWF he never spoke at all! And all the lucha libre stars that were in WCW back in the day. I bet they couldn't all speak English but they could put on a hell of a match. Wrestlers don't need to speak English or speak at all for creative to work with them.

      • Philly_Cheese says:

Yeah because you know Goldberg totally spoke for months on end when he first appeared for WCW. Some of the biggest names in wrestling history didn't say a single word for month when they first appeared.

    • tna24 says:

i didnt know speaking matter so much. if they got talent who cares if they can speak

    • MRPC says:

Eric Bischoff could always get his old mate Sonny Onoo to assist.

I think a feud with another wrestling promotion could be good if they could get any real control over the talent. It's something WWE can't do, and it's kind of like A&8 but people wouldn't crap on it cause at least it would be a "real rival promotion" and not insulted as a "fake biker gang". However, the talent would ultimately have to come in to put TNA wrestlers over, or there would be no point since they can't really establish a bunch of other promotions talent over well.

  8. Vampirofan says:

I don't think it really matters who is put over, would be boring watching TNA stars constantly beating another promotion's wrestlers. It would need to be mixed so both promotions get more advertising and viewers.
