Breaking Update – Bobby Roode’s Contract Expires

Source: The Wrestling Observer

UPDATE: The talk in the TNA locker room is that talent relations head Bruce Prichard mistakenly allowed Bobby Roode’s contract to expire. A source stated that Roode actually had to bring his contract status to the company’s attention. As of right now, they are working to get a new deal done before tomorrow night’s Lockdown pay-per-view. Roode can now play “hardball” if he chooses as he’s booked and needed for the pay-per-view.

Story developing …. stay tuned for more.

According to TNA sources, there is some sort of a contract issue between Bobby Roode and TNA. If the issue is not worked out within the next 24 hours, Roode will not be performing at tomorrow’s TNA Lockdown pay-per-view. Roode and Austin Aries are scheduled to defend the TNA tag titles against Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez as well as Christopher Daniels and Kazarian in a triple threat match.

Roode has not appeared on TNA TV since February 24th, missing the last two tapings. While people within TNA were keeping the issue quiet, it quickly became clear there was a problem since all the TNA talent was in San Antonio early for a fan fest today and there was no sign of Roode.

While TNA hasn’t commented on the issue, word is that the contract issue dates back a few weeks and the two sides are talking to work things out.

I'm pretty sure he'll sign and stay with tna. But if he wants out, vkm will put that big money contract in his face and he might jump ship to wwe

  2. Sturk says:

    Roode will stay!

  3. Treck says:

The person who mentioned Roode. VKM and WWE in the same sentence should get their teeth kicked in. No to wwetardville!

    • DJBIGCG says:

Like I said tna mark treck,I'm pretty sure he will stay in tna. But you never know, he might leave tna and jump ship to wwe just like flair, booker t, cm punk, dusty Rhodes, goldust, Christian, Nash, r truth, Etc

  4. Dante_Cross says:

A lot of talent have left under Pritchard's leadership over Talen Relations. If the guy can't negotiate with wrestlers and so many have left, unable to reach an agreement with this guy, shouldn't they be looking at someone who can actually garner deals with their talent so as not to lose them. It's about time Pritchard was fired.

    • ariesstormjoe says:

id say majority of talent that have left tna in the past big issue has been tv time.

theres a large number of guys tna can say that they will definitely get a consistent amount of tv time on weekly television.

but the talent that has left have either been stuck at home doing nothing or they've been used 1 week. not used for 3 weeks. used for a run of 5 weeks off tv for 2 weeks. tna could stop losing those types of talents if they had another tv show so they could give a number of talent tv time whilst a storyline ends. then when it does the story being run on the 2nd show could move to the 1st show. so the talent is used better.

100% agreed. ‘Mistakenly let Roode’s contract expire”? How do you let one of your biggest names slip through the cracks. C’mon TNA, you’re better than that. Let Pitchard go already.

  6. Bigmike885 says:

This goes to tell you the sorry state of TNA..They allowed one of thier biggest stars contract to mistakely expire..weater or not he resigns is sends a horriable message to the locker room and i would be furious if i was Roode…I get that stuff happens, but come on..i gaurentee if this was Sting, Hogan or Angle this would not have happened. My guess is they just assumed he'd stay…hell if i was him i'd leave just for tommorrow just ot say F you..

    • soyfenomenal says:

"leave just for tomorrow"? Then you can pretend to still be employed while at the unemployment office.

      • Bigmike885 says:

Yes. Leave for tomorrow. As in not work the ppv. I know it wouldn't hurt it that much but it would prove a point. At the very least they could twist it into a decent storyline if he stays.Sent from my iPhone

Some good points are being made here. Bruce has brought nothing to TNA, that I've seen (not that I would honestly know, anyway, it just seems he's caused more harm than good). If he is the problem with air time for the wrestlers, or dropping the ball on contracts, it's time for him to go…TNA can't lose someone as valuable as Roode.

  8. pepsilover2008 says:

How the heck do you even go to england without checking the contract stuff, what would have happened if his contract was up then. They'd have to get someone else to fly out or completely rewrite the program with one less person.

  9. Juan says:

This is all speculation, for all we know this is bs. Roode's contract may not even have expired. Until facts are shown, we know nothing. If his contract is up, he really has no reason not to resign, he's a big player in TNA, a top guy. He could gamble a shot at WWE, who knows if he'd become a star, or he could stay where he is star.

  10. Philly_Cheese says:

The bigger question that I think everyone has is… How exactly do you let ANY contract expire unintentionally? As the person running talent relations his job is purely to keep an eye on the talent and their contracts… It also seems kind of funny that WWE released this guy stating he "needed to move on" which is usually corporate lingo for "you didn't do you job".

  11. TheBringer92 says:

Hmm….maybe Pritchard doesnt like certain people….Velvet Sky….Bobby Roode hmm….big favourites.

  12. mark says:

    I smell a swerve.bobby roode aces and 8s

    • Whatever says:

I smell a jackass. Every time u marks hear that a contract expired or that someone decided not to resign that they are joining a group that has become the most boring any way over played storyline to date. H & B are trying so hard to revise the nWo just because it was the greatest idea they came up with in WcW. They need to let it die. ECW is dead let the nWo Rest In Peace.

  13. tsoutheast says:

Pritchard should be fired for this…There is no excuse for not have talent signed that you just put a title on,and is booked for the PPV.

  14. Mr. Excitement says:

Roode is important. I thought a year ago they stated he was signed to a contract extension.

  15. mrjdjr says:

Just like TNA didn't renew Devon’s contract. God you people are gullible as hell.

  16. Real Deal Heel says:

Roode was renewed months ago…it's just Internet follies. Rest easy.
