Early TNA iMPACT! Rating #’s Are In + More

— As noted earlier here on the website, TNA has officially announced the previously-reported news that Lex Lugar will be a featured guest for the TNA Hall Of Fame Celebration on October 13 for Sting’s induction. Also listed as “featured guests” are Hulk Hogan, Dixie Carter, AJ Styles, Mike Tenay and Lex Luger. We posted the press release earlier today here on the website. The show will take place at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort at 8 PM MST and is part of the promotion’s Bound for Glory weekend. The PPV airs on October 14th.

— While the specific rating is not in yet, Thursday night’s episode of iMPACT! Wrestling drew an average of 1,265,000 viewers. That is down slightly from 1,340,000 last week. In terms of the 18 – 49 demographic, the show was even with last week’s, both sitting at a 0.4 which is about average for the show.

So, The total number of viewers is down from last week ???

I was happy to hear Hulk Hogan address Devon leaving TNA. He did it in a very classy way, and I have to give him respect for that.

Now that being said, I didn't really care too much for Impact this week. I am sorta getting tired of the hole Aces and 8's story line. I think the writing is not that great. When Hogan and Sting got pepper sprayed they couldn't act the part. I just think that the writing is not working for the story line.

well the nfl refs came back so thats part of the reason plus going against nfl every thursday and against tv networks best shows doesnt help.. wwe fans always say that aint a excuse yet wwe ratings are down big time vs monday ***ht football but they're making excuses .reality is there are more ppl in to the nfl than wrestling so the numbers will never be good for either company facing off against nfl games. As far as impact i thoughtit was okay but the gutcheck was a waste of time cant they just give the yes or no after the no x division fueds going on either ..finally they at least get to the point with the aces stuff..

    • Pipboy86 says:

Both Raw and Impact were very mediocre to say the least this week. Nothing from either that stands out as really horrible, but nothing really on the ball either. As far as Aces and 8s go, it is dangerously approaching the point where it becomes irrelevant in TNA, like so many of the past "gang" storylines they have had. It has just kind of reached the point where it is there, they are obviously a stable like so many others and really are just gonna be a thorn in the side type of thing like MEM, Fortune, Immortal etc. The time of there being a significant payoff seems to be slowly slipping away, maybe because TNA hasn't quite known what to do with them other than run in's and kidnapping angles. It is one thing to slow build from a simmer, quite another to sit under a heat lamp all day and dry out.

    • jbcissom says:

A&8 isn't going to payoff until BFG. Everyone knew that once they attacked Sting after he was named the first HoF inductee. Use some common sense, it's not real-life competition.

I agree, Gutcheck is becoming watered-down. It needs to be a quarterly (annual) thing. And have them be on the PPVs (possible free match to lead into PPV)… i.e. BFG, Lockdown, Slamiversary, and Dest X.

And to everyone who keeps complaining about no X div wrestling… something tells me that triple threat tag team match is going to provide plenty of X div moments.

      • Pipboy86 says:

Payoff to what exactly at this point? At this point it is pretty obvious the storyline has become bogged down and not executed in an optimal manner. The only consistent they have been able to establish is that they don't like Hulk Hogan. Big deal, get in line. That could probably be said of 90% of people he has worked with over the years. In the end it is probably going to be Jarrett, or Bischoff leading the way because they are mad he took over power from them, leading to another power struggle that is ultimately about Hulk Hogan. We've seen that 3 times already since 2010. It could have been more but it has seemingly fallen into the trap of not knowing exactly how to pull it off and not getting the group over as individuals with a larger purpose. Probably because TNA has been unsure just exactly who or what Aces and 8's actually is and in a larger picture than just guys in masks who have a problem with the direction of TNA. So we go from virtually very little consistent build and just random run ins and kidnappings, bizarre "reality tv" type segments to it coming to a head at BFG. From there then what? They are revealed, probably a lot of people are disappointed that the members are lackluster and appear thrown together and we have a stable war where people have to unite to fight against them.

It was actually not that bad before Hogan came back and once again it became all about him. A little bit too slow of a burn though. It should have been fleshed out sooner, then even if you have to throw old Huckster in the mix due to his ego, you have something to work with. Other than recognizable star power, here is why groups like the NWO and Freebirds worked wonders. They come, it is viewed as a legitimate invasion of guys who are real threats, they demand to face the best and quickly establish themselves as the legit threats they claim to be. It goes from about being here are guys who are threats to the Von Erichs or WCW, to holy shit, by who, and how and when are they going to be stopped. Kidnapping Joseph Parks, Hogan and Sting and threatening him with corny acting and then We are going to reveal all of this at BFG not only is hollow in comparison, it reeks of desperation both on the part of the so-called invading group and of TNA creative.

At this point, I actually wouldn't have minded seeing Joseph Parks, Hogan and Sting be killed by Aces and 8's and I know I am not the only one, because I have shared his sentiment with many people already since this angle started jumping the shark. Only if! TNA would actually have been better for it in the longrun, but they can't do it in wrestling, so ultimately it is dumb and doomed to fall short of anything that could have been if they had K.I.S.S.

        • andy3323 says:

We are really only in the begining stages of the Ace's & 8's. I mean they have not shed light on any of the members. They haven't shown their leader. They haven't taken over, won any titles, etc.

Too early to question the payoff, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg (just the tip!) and it's not like they'll abruptly end the storyline once we see a few faces come out from behind the masks.

This is likely to be a very involved, played out, long lasting storyline. Not weeks, months, but more than a year in all likelyhood.

          • OutsiderJoe says:

The wikipedia says that Festus Luke Gallows from WWE is working TNA house shows as a masked member of the Aces & 8s stable probably will go by his ring ka king name "The Outlaw" Isaiah Cash when hes revealed I wonder if there gonna use him for the tag match at BFG

        • Stunner says:

WHAT… I’m in total agreeance with a TNA fan! WHAT … RAW must really suck? Yes it does so much so I’m starting to DVR Impact! Why does everything have to be about Hogan! WHAT… TNAs Glory-hound WHAT…don’t worry WWEs got one even bigger Tripple H WHAT… Aces & Eights was at its best when everyone thought that James Storm was the Leader. I think the TRUE Leader of Aces&eights is BULLYNATION!

        • nwoforlife says:

get real tna has been great the Aces and 8's story is off the hook but people like you just want to run down tna because your wwe kiss my Vince members so if you don't like it don't watch and stop crying about it tna rules wwe has not been good for years and years brother

          • JeffandJoker says:

            LOL. . . .

Aces & 8's has been great ??? LOL

Let me try and explain why I hate the writing of this hole story line. Hulk Hogan called the police to keep Aces & 8's out of the building. They had cops there and everything. They tried to make it all look so real. Yet when they kidnap Joe Parks, as well has Hulk Hogan and Sting the police NEVER get called???

Aces & 8's send video messages to talk to Hulk Hogan but yet when one of their guys gets caught by Hogan they have his cell phone number ??? Why send a video message if they have his cell number and can call him???

The writing for the hole story just seems very weak !!!!

          • Mr_Wrestling_IV says:

It's a STORY, not REAL. Do you come out of a movie and criticize it because that shouldn't have happened in reality? C'mon man!

          • JeffandJoker says:

            Your Right. . . . Its NOT real !!!

BUT. . . . You have to have some sorta feeling that it might be able to happen. If it was all so fake then no one would watch.

So if its not real, then Robbie E should be able to win the world title !!! Or maybe Hulk Hogan could still wrestle and people would think he could really hang with a guy like Austin Aries.

In wrestling you have to sorta think what is going on MIGHT be able to really happen.

          • andy3323 says:

            What's a hole storyline? Nevermind, don't want to know…

It's a storyline, dude. Enjoy it. Why would you even want to split hairs and ruin the storyline for yourself? Just have some fun, sit back, and relax. You're over thinking it.

And why not send a video message? Maybe it means they haves guys on the inside with production, isn't that one of their points of emphasis? They have their ins iders, such as the girl who pepper sprayed them.

          • Pipboy86 says:

It is pretty obvious you have no standards and are just as mindless of a fanboy for TNA as you accuse everyone of being for WWE who disagrees that TNA is not "Off the hook". The Aces and 8's stuff is WCW Dungeon of Doom quality material. Meaning, it is not entirely without some merit, but it is also in no way top quality. If it is the center storyline of the promotion (which it is) there is a problem. This is midcard material being pushed as main event.

        • tnadude says:

I agree with part of what you said. Even still, entire point is well-stated.

          A couple things though:
          1) The story was concocted so they could go live, and the reveal really belongs @ BFG. So it had to drag on a bit.

          2) The power struggle angle has been the dominant theme in large angles since the nWo revolutionized wrestling. It will continue to do so until someone comes up with something bigger.

Hogan needs to be part of it to give it credibility with the masses. I agree it could have been done better, and was actually the first person here to criticize them for it. Aces & 8s should have had a bigger presence, and should have done run-ins instead of just getting called out for a fight at 9:55 every other Thursday. They should have come and gone unpredictably.

That said, it beats the crape out of Immortal. And it will continue to do so as long as it's Jarrett. Bischoff has done it too many times and it's gotten old.

    • Rated_Maxx says:

I bet you think two men hugging in the ring is cool.

    • Peckar says:

The only problem with the storyline is Hogan. His acting is terrible. I think he is trying to showcase his acting to get roles. One problem, you suck! Also the start of Impact was him. That I understand. It gets the crowd into a bit of a frenzy so they are good for the show. However how long does he need to blabber on? You see Sting come straight to the ring, say a couple of lines and leave. Hogan was still in the ring wanting to drag it out.

  2. IW4EVA says:

I felt that this weeks impact was good in a way … few main questions on everybody's mind was addressed , and storyline progression was made ,
—TV title to Samoa Joe will lend the belt credibility and admitting Devons departure from TNA and not brushing his absence under the carpet

–Finally Aces n 8s facing TNAs 2 in BFG , that is where the leader and the faction will be revealed

  3. hangers says:

Far too many Hogan segments in this weeks impact, the fcucking guy was everywhere. No KO match, just for something different, but I suppose we'll have plenty of time to see Tara and Tess for the next two months. Chavo getting the boos, what r they gong to do with him if he cant get over with the fans, if you can call the bunch of yokel tourists in the Impact zone fans..

    • nwoforlife says:

well you just proved you don't watch because odb and tera had a match you get 100 thumbs down

    • IW4EVA says:

you worried about Chavo getting boos from" fans" ? the same impact zone "fans" who are just casual universal studios visiters having very limited knowledge of pro wrestling ???

    • Raincold57 says:

those fans arent even fans there just sitting to take a brake from the rides.. plus anybody vs aj and angle gets booed..

      • hangers says:

Yea, but does it look good on tv? Thats the problem/drawback with being live in the impact zone theres no way to edit out that shit. In saying this, i dont think chavo will ever ger over with fans either in or out of the impact zone, just too typecast now..

  4. hangers says:

    It's Lex Luger..

  5. whatsup121 says:

of course ratings are down all the other shows are back on tv now

  6. nwoforlife says:

tna this week was great spite all the wwe people trying to put tna down but if the show they like sucks they have to make them self fill better some how like the way they did the Devon leaving and the match for the tittle Aces and 8's story is great i like that they are taking time and not rushing the story

    • Pippin0490 says:

Just because some people didn't like this weeks Impact as much, doesn't mean they are "WWE people trying to put TNA down".

Please realise that people can have their own opinions and they may differ from yours, but that doesn't make them wrong and certainly doesn't make them "WWE people trying to put TNA down".

      • Raincold57 says:

during the bfg series they were putting on great matches yet wwe marks still riipped on it cause if tna isnt get a 3.0 rating the wwe marks rip on tna no matter how good the show is…even though wwe ismt even getting those numbers either

        • Pippin0490 says:

I never stated otherwise! I was pointing out that if somebody didn't enjoy an episode of Impact, it doesn't make them a "WWE person trying to put TNA down", rather they just didn't like that show as much.

I forgot, one cannot say anything that can be interpreted as negative towards TNA on here without getting voted down. Even though I said nothing negative about TNA or Impact. *rolls eyes*

I stand by what I said, TNA fans can not enjoy an Impact show as much, without them being "WWE people trying to put TNA down".

          • Raincold57 says:

just in general most wwe fans dont watch tna ever yet come on tna videos, reviews or message boards ripping on it even though they have no clue who any of the current tna wrestlers are. Then you have other wwe marks that watched once in 2008 dident like it and base they're opinion on tna from that one show then ppl see the marks comments and jump on the bandwagon

  7. Rated_Maxx says:

Who in the hell is Real Deal Heel

  8. Sxix says:

These wwe ass kissers need to shut the hell up. TNA has been great! Narrow minds gtfooh

    • Bigmike885 says:

you ever think that the people who come on here and bitch about TNA do it because they want TNA to be better? I sure do…
