Extreme Rising Pissed Off At Stevie Richards (Bizarre Story!)

Extreme Rising Pissed Off At Stevie Richards (Bizarre Story!)

Source: Pwinsider

Extreme Rising is demanding that former TNA talent Steve Richards, their current champion, return their title belt immediately after Richards said he would defend the title via a video game. Richards has kept the belt since winning it and has taken it overseas and to independent shows.

This all stems from Richards posting a photo of the Extreme Rising belt and the latest Madden video game on Twitter and saying that he would defend the title via the game online due to losing his WrestleMania weekend bookings. Former ECW star Danny Doring responded by posting a photo of the old ECW World Tag Team Title (which he has had since ECW closed in 2001) on his Twitter account and said he’d put that title up against Richards. He joked that it would be “defunct promotion vs. defunct promotion.”

Extreme Rising apparently then emailed Richards demanding that he return their belt by the end of this week and that they were disappointed that Richards was involved with something that described Extreme Rising as a “defunct promotion.”

Richards responded by saying he was upset that Extreme Rising “doubted his ability as a Madden player” and said the promotion got upset over something 20 people saw on Twitter. He was surprised they took all this so seriously since it was mostly just him and Doring goofing off online. He also was disappointed that nobody from the promotion called him about it.

The sad part is ….. this is NOT an angle by any means and Extreme Rising is legitimately pissed off over this.

Richards and Doring do plan to play the game and want to stream it online.

What a bizarre story.

All I have to say is…. this is awesome!!!!

Have 'em do a battle royale of games, with the winner at the end getting both belts.

this might just be the coolest story ever…Its funny that ER is so pissed about it when they cancled the event 3 weeks before hand..im sure alot of these guys had flights/hotels booked and now are screwed out of those, along with whatever payday they might have had..Good for Richards..

    • dcxboxx says:

the promotion would have paid for the hotels booked. and only a few guys had them booked. just rey misterio bestia 666 super crazy, damion 666 pesidilla and luke hawks. the rest are from the area or were working other shows mania weekend like liger. anyways i cant wait til extreme rising announces the next shows. im a little upset they canceled but they should have booked the mania shows a few months earlier and not did one in philly for mania weekend they would have been fine. or atleast took up the offer to do wrestlecon they had. i got my refund already. im not complaining, and going to other mania weekend shows. going to like 10 wrestling events mania weekend.

was doing the 3 extreme rising events and dragons gate on sunday then mania and raw.

now going to pws (pro wrestling syndicate) april 4th and 5th . evolve on april 5th doing shimmer, chikara, dragons gate, and $5 wrestling on april 6th. dragons gate usa and wrestlemania on april 7th. monday night raw on april 8th

Idk who told you this but no… the promotion would not have paid for the hotel expenses… In fact any wrestler will tell you, nearly no promotion pays for a hotel EVER. WWE does pay for them currently, as it's required with such a huge travel schedule, and now it's reported TNA does now with their new travel schedule.

Most wrestling promotions don't ever pay for hotel expenses, and you'll find 99.99% of wrestlers can tell you how they drove to an event then had to immediately drive home, staying up for several days. Another is how they slept in their car after an event. I've heard stories from many famous wrestlers including people like Nunzio who talk about sleeping in their cars because they were to tired to drive home and couldn't afford a hotel or motel.

but richards says tna is a joke? LOL? can u say pot meet kettle?

  9. JoeWrestling says:

The sad part is they should be thankful Stevie Richards even mentioned their promotion. Although I guess they are upset because the 20 people on Twitter is more people than have seen their product on video. Apparently it was a defunct promotion before it started and the promoter didn't realize it.

they have been selling pretty good ticket numbers. they just booked the shows to late vs otherr promotions running mania weekend. since they were announcing late they should have taken the offer to just do wrestlecon and not do philly on a thursday night.. last few shows ranged from just over 1000 to 1500 people. i had tix to all 3. nyc was just about sold out and would have been sold out, but those 2 events were being done as a loss.

  10. TwIsTeD_EnEmY says:

Il play you Stevie! Wouldn't mind having a world title

  11. Mutter5 says:

Richards responded by saying he was upset that Extreme Rising “doubted his ability as a Madden player”

    That line is gold
