Frankie Kazarian Confirms TNA Lockdown PPV Changes

As noted earlier here on the website, TNA Lockdown will no longer be an all-Steel Cage match PPV. The plan within the company is to have the top matches inside a cage, but for the undercard matches to be standard ring setup matches. During a recent interview with Machinima Sports, Frankie Kazarian noted the following: “I’m not sure this year, the format may change. I think we may have a probably a Lethal Lockdown match and maybe perhaps the main event I’m not. I’m not sure they are doing the all-cage format this year.”

The PPV has been all-cage matches since it began in 2005. TNA Lockdown 2013 takes place on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

aww…..I liked all the matches inside the cage, itll save time

  2. tna24 says:

man so many changes in tna. well i dont mind the change. some times having too many cage matches can be boring

  3. ariesstormjoe says:

well not all the matches inside the cage actually used the cage at times.

it can be a good change. if they keep it as it is. got to use the cage more in all matches.

  4. Leg Drop Jobber says:

TNA needs to shake things up a bit. This might be a good thing. When every match is in the cage, no match is more important than the next. TNA just needs to make the shows flow good and have solid booking throughout an entire PPV, not just a couple of matches that actually have a build/story.

Who is the failure coming up with THIS nonsense? First, Lockdown is in March. Then it's in an enormous arena they'll never fill. Then they make SOMEONE #1 contender out of no where. And now Lockdown won't be an all-cage ppv? Fucking stupid.

  6. Dirk1n says:

Lockdown hasn't been the same since they lost the six sides of steel. At least it should stop anymore "electrified cage" matches.

    • NotCookz says:

Oh God I hated those electrified cage matches. Felt like I was watching CZW or some crap.

      • Ringmaster44 says:

My good sir ill have you know that the czw cage matches are fucking awesome. As some who has been to lockdown and czw cage of death both live. I can tell the czw cage match puts tnas to shame. not to knock tna but those are on a different level. btw the electrified cage was just a stupid fake gimmick, had it been in czw it would of gone FMW in japan style with the c4 explosives.

        • NotCookz says:

I'm not referring to CZW matches as a whole, I happen to like a lot of what they do, it's just the over-glorified 'hardcore' wrestling, it simply doesn't suit TNA.

  7. Ringmaster44 says:

Despite being one their biggest ppvs most of the matches in lockdown are actually not terrifically excting aside from the lethal lockdown match and your angle moonsault of death. If theyre not gona have the guys step it up and put on a not boring cage match or even have a point to there being a cage until the main matches then this is for the best and i think allows lockdown to be even better

    • ariesstormjoe says:

i think what they did was have it as all matches in a cage cos of the ppv name. the thing is theres only so much you can do with 7-8 matches in a cage. 3-4 matches used the cage well. and part of that will be cos of the agents saying "oh this is something that we can do. this is new".
