Huge Update: Why Brooke Hogan Was Fired From TNA

Source: Pwinsider.com

UPDATE x 2: As we reported on Friday, Brooke Hogan has officially been released from TNA iMPACT! Wrestling. The feeling within the company was that her role as an on-air talent had pretty much run its’ course. As we noted, the split appeared to be amicable, as both sides seemed to agree that it was time to part ways.

According to one report, Brooke’s father and TNA executive Hulk Hogan was brought in on the discussions regarding the Brooke Hogan release, and appeared to agree that it was the right thing for business.

As far as Brooke’s future is concerned, she is said to be focusing more on non-wrestling projects at this point in time. Apparently the door is open for her to return to TNA at some point down the line, as long as it makes sense for all parties involved.

Additionally, financial considerations factored into the decision to cut Brooke from the company. The general feeling within TNA is that paying someone such as Brooke, who is a non-wrestler that didn’t really draw any added ratings or move any additional merchandise, is a luxury that the company can’t afford. Especially when you consider the fact that actual established in-ring workers are being cut left-and-right recently.

UPDATE: As noted earlier, Brooke Hogan has been released from TNA Wrestling. There were rumors in both the WWE and TNA locker-rooms over the past several days, especially on Thursday and Friday, that she had been released but we weren’t able to confirm it until today when TNA officials officially acknowledged it.

According to sources, the story making the rounds is that she was let go from the company on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. TNA officials are saying it’s due to “budget cuts” but others believe there is more to the story, especially with her father in the position he’s in with the company. Of course, there is always a chance that she’ll return down the line but as of now, she’s been released.

There was a “Brooke” tease by Bully Ray at the iMPACT! tapings last night but it turned out to be a swerve. You can click here to read the iMPACT! **SPOILERS** for next week if you want to know what happens. They basically called Brooke Hogan ugly. It’s also interesting to note that Hulk Hogan hasn’t been seen for weeks on iMPACT!. Hmmm.

ORIGINAL: According to a source, Brooke Hogan has been released from TNA iMPACT! Wrestling.

Apparently the story was going around the WWE lockerroom on Thursday, but the story wasn’t confirmed by TNA officials until today.

We should have more details on this breaking story later today.

Was hoping to hear something more juicy than that.
    Oh well.
    At least she's gone now.

Uhm… every talent that has been let go wasn't being used (except for Tara… but I'm glad that let her go instead of dragging her through the mud with Mr. Pectacular… hope she does well in whatever she does)… thus they were let go. And saying they were cut left and right really isn't an accurate portrayal. Over half of the cuts that were made were on the OVW level… not at the TNA level.

thats a big element not understood by a lot of folks.

"Especially when you consider the fact that actual established in-ring workers are being cut left-and-right recently."

aries, daniels, bully ray, aj styles, samoa joe, magnus, roode, storm and so on…so much talent all gone……oh hmm my mistake.

most of the time when talent leave tna its due to expiring contracts. like doc. if the talent and the company arent going to agree new terms. then expired contracts wont be renewed. in the case of joey ryan and taeler hendrix i think thats just typical work cuts being made. its not like ppl said their work was bad its just a case of others being favoured cos they've been there longer.

in the case of tara. id have also liked to seen her kept but if 1 show mickie is facing velvet and the next show gail kim is facing taryn. then from the perspective of a talent not working they have to either wait their turn or will go elsewhere. though i believe she's concentrating on her restaurant atm (sounds a great place to eat, drink, watch shows). from the perspective of the company there will come a time tho where they are like "well. can we work this talent into a show?" if the answer is no then its a shame.

saying that if a company has around about 335 minutes weekly (thats over 6 hours not including adverts or reality shows. there should be absolutely no trouble with using talents regularly. no excuse or reason is big enough).

Tara's restaurant is great. best vegetarian burger options in chicago right now.

      • JoeWrestling says:

Impact is now on 335 minutes weekly? awesome, I was thinking more like 80 minutes. 50 wrestlers and 80 minutes, no excuse they can't all be on.

It seems that all media outlets that cover wrestling are just dying to make TNA look like a bankrupt company that can’t afford its own wrestlers. When IN REALITY they are doing what any good wrestling company does and that’s trim the fat and lose the dead weight. If they don’t have any plans, immediate or future, for a wrestler then there is no sense in paying him to travel from city to city with the company.

WWE does this same “spring cleaning” as well. But you won’t hear about it because it doesn’t feed any rumors. TNA on the other hand is one bad contract away from boarding up their windows and selling the farm (if you ask the media).

    This shouldve happened weeks ago

Haven't watched TNA since Ortiz debuted few weeks back. But getting rid of Brooke is good news now just let the MMA guys go and i'll be back. And on the topic again Brooke was fired because she has no real talent (for anything), but this sounds better as a public statement because Hulk is still there. (I never was a fan, but i do recognize what he did for the sport.) My hardest time with wrestling is that it's never gonna be as good as the nineties again. Things go too quick now (maybe it's the time or decade) but i miss the old times.

Edit: The reason Brooke and his son Nick amount to nothing is also simple. Hogan was nothing until he became a wrestler and got rich. His kids got everything handed and think it's just the normal way of the world. Hogan should stop giving them gigs. They also would have to earn them for thereselves just like the rest of us (non influential parent kids). How can you be 100% into something if you didn;t have to travel the hard road.

One Hogan down, one to go. This was an idiotic signing from the start. Brooke was a "never was" pretending to be a "has been". Her only claims to fame were her VH1 show and the fact that she was Hulk's daughter. Despite "growing up" in the business, she had zero sense for the business aside from being a wardrobe girl. Hell, I've been watching pro wrestling since the mid 80's. You could say that I've "grown up" in the business, but that doesn't mean I should get a job in TNA. TNA shouldn't be in the business of giving jobs to peoples kids just because they're that person's son/daughter. Brooke is gone, now it's time for Garret Bischoff to go, and then, Hogan needs to go to. Does his merchandise sell? Yes, but what amount of that does TNA itself get? Add to that the fact that Hogan appears in WWE games due to his deal with ACCLAIM, and hThis was an idiotic signing from the start. Brooke was a "never was" pretending to be a "has been". Her only claims to fame were her VH1 show and the fact that she was Hulk's daughter. Despite "growing up" in the business, she had zero sense for the business aside from being a wardrobe girl. This is a good riddance a long time in the making and long over due.

    • Mr. Excitement says:

      Acclaim went bankrupt years ago.

I still remember the Brooke signing. Dixie announcing she'll help bring attention to TNA through media appearances. I laughed when I read that because Brooke always was a no name.

Perhaps I should replace Dixie. (sarcasm)

    • jbcissom says:

I gotta disagree with you about HH and GB. HH is on tv at a minimum. He's definitely overpaid, but if what they said about him is true, and he's really doing some media for TNA, I'm ok with it… because he's not on tv.

And GB… the dude catches way too much flack. Seriously, when was the last time GB won a match… singles or tag? Him and Briscoe were used as young guns to help further the A&8 storyline with their swerve. And ever since, he's been a jobber… and a good one at that. He didn't take his lumps on the indy circuit, but he's definitely taking them in TNA. I can't complain if he's improving.

      • godoftna says:

That's basically it though jb. With Hogan, it all comes down to cost versus reward, and at this point the cost FAR exceeds the reward. His tv time has been limited as of late, and I've got to believe that it's because the TNA higher ups are finally seeing that he's not the ratings draw I'm sure he said he'd be. With his media appearances and, let's face it, passing references to TNA, he should work and be paid as a backstage agent and nothing more. Perhaps a LITTLE bit extra for his name value, but really, that's it. And between his merchandise sales, media appearances, and royalties he recieves for appearing in WWE games and videos, I'm sure a cut in pay wouldn't hurt him very much. Aside from his ego that is.

  6. Roid Master says:

Can they fire Garrett Bischoff next? He's not considered in-ring talent either.

You could replace the word "Brooke" in here with "Hogan" and it would be extremely accurate as well. Idk why he hasn't gotten released yet, he does nothing for ratings. He doesn't seem to have brought much to the table since he's come in.

Huge Update on Why Brooke Hogan Was Released by TNA.

    She sucks.
