Last Week’s TNA iMPACT! Quarter Hour Ratings Are In …

Here are the quarter hour ratings from the May 9th edition of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling. The show did hours of 0.91 (0.9) and 1.06 (1.1) for an average rating of 0.98 (1.0) ….

First Hour Break Down
Q1: Impact opened with another poor rating of a 0.80, capturing Spike TV’s decision to shift Impact back to 9:00 p.m. EST at the end of the month. The last five weeks, including this week, Impact has opened with a 0.75, 0.81, 0.83, 0.85, and 0.80 rating.

This week’s segment featured Sting and Kurt Angle calling out A.J. Styles, who walked away, and one commercial break.

Q2: Impact remained in the doldrums with a 0.87 rating for this week’s Knockouts segment, which included a tag match, and one commercial break.

Q3: Impact jumped to a 1.02 rating for Bully Ray dressing down D-Lo Brown, Magnus vs. D.O.C., and one-and-a-half commercials.

Q4: Impact swung back down to a 0.95 rating for an Aces & Eights follow-up segment, Hulk Hogan backstage, ring introductions for the Second Hour main event, and one-and-a-half commercials.

Second Hour Break Down
Q5: Impact peaked with a 1.11 rating for Daniels & Kazarian vs. Roode & Aries with James Storm as special referee, Magnus attacked backstage, and only half of a commercial, which helped the quarter-hour rating.

Q6: Impact dipped below the 1.0-level with a 0.98 rating for a Suicide vignette, Chris Sabin and Kenny King’s in-ring promo segment attempting to bring the X Division back to life, and one-and-a-half commercial breaks.

Q7: Impact swung back to a 1.05 rating for videos, main event ring introductions, and the first four minutes of the main event of Sting & Kurt Angle vs. Aces & Eights.

Q8: Despite the tease of a third man emerging to join Sting & Angle, Impact only increased slightly to a 1.09 rating for the conclusion of the main event and Abyss returning to join Team TNA. There was also one mid-match commercial as TNA teased the appearance of a third man.

Looks like Aces and Eights ain't drawing…

    • tna24 says:

or maybe it because the first hour tna weakest hour.

    • jbcissom says:

Are you drinking cyanide? Every segment the A&8 were involved in drew above a 1.0 rating.

I'm not a ratings guy. I'm a viewership guy. But I'm getting tired of idgits saying A&8 doesn't draw, and they're always in the higher rated segments. People just want to nag and complain.

Obviously he didn't even read the breakdown, just bitter about the Ace's & 8's for whatever reason.

  2. DJBIGCG says:

It looks like moving back to 9pm will help tna rating wise

  3. Stunner says:

I know these rateings mean a lot to the company and to some of the fans. However I just want TNA to continue to put out a quality product each week the ratings will come. Or at least that’s how I see it

  4. tna24 says:

really though spike and tna need to stop moving impact. pick a day and time and stick with it. like come on you dont see raw moving times. they been on Monday and at 9 since i think day one till they move to 3 hours.

Get ready down voters. I personally find the Aces & Eights a much less interesting story than say comparatively The Shield in the E. Again personally, I feel that instead of pushing/grooming young blood they too heavily invested in people in their mid 30's. Exceptions are there in other wrestlers like Chirstian York, but I don't see much prospect for like likes of Knox. Again. I can and hopefully will be proved wrong. I'm not burying the angle, just wished it was with younger edgier wrestlers.

they could always add a few new guys to the club, maybe some xdivision?

      • jbcissom says:

That's where I think TNA is dropping the ball with A&8. Have a viable X-div wrestler holding the belt or contending… Briscoe. Have a viable tag team holding the tag belts or contending… Anderson and D.O.C. or D.O.C. and Knox. And have Devon defending the tv belt every week… even if he wins by interference every single time. I mean this is a heel group… they're not supposed to always get clean wins.

      • WARISNAUGHTY says:

Again, it isn't something I can see being booked well. The Aces & Eights haven't had much individual character development. Motivations as to why each person in there seems lacking. The obvious choice for an X Division guy would be Kenny King. But then what? He just gets lost in the shuffle. I honestly think that this angle should end sooner rather than later, unless BIG changes are headed. It hasn't really helped Anderson or Devon. Bully doesn't need this to be a heel. I just wish TNA would be more focused on who is going to BECOME a star rather than who is CURRENTLY a star. You won't get WW's audience just by having their wrestlers when you have so much arguably better home grown.

i always thought they could add a knockout to the mix. someone like gail kim who seem piss off about everything

    • DiamondChampion says:

Everyone is in there mid 30s, both in TNA and WWE. Technically, TNA might be a little younger now with on-air talent that wrestles weekly/biweekly. Ppl just forget about Magnus, Robbie E, Rob Terry. You really cant say that TNA invests to much in ppl in there mid 30s when your main eventers like Sheamus, Cena, Henry, Punk, Lesner, Orton, etc. are all around 35. Mid 30's and early 40's is your prime in wrestling, historically.

      • WARISNAUGHTY says:

I refer to the word 'currently' again. You are absolutely right that the main eventers in TNA and WWE are of a similar age. BUT and this is a big BUT, WWE invests more in younger talent. Coddy Rhodes is not even 30 yet and has been built well. Randy Orton was young when he came in. So was Cena, Henry and Lesner. In my opinion Joe should be the centre point of TNA but for some reason is just not really doing anything. He should be built like a Stone Cold. Of the younger guys who would you say though could realistically be of that main event caliber?

here we go again with another week of excuses from people this is getting old super fast

  7. hangers says:

Whoever came up with the A & 8's storyline should be fired as it has been a negative for the company. The longer it drags on te longer the ratings will languish. As for the KO's division its not hard to see how boring its become through poor repeditive booking and very little focus or effort creatively..

  8. Blood Runs Cold says:

Not surprised Bad Influence & Aries/Roode got the highest rating. That was the best match on Impact & featured the majority of the best workers TNA has.
