Major Backstage Update On The TNA vs. WWE Lawsuit

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

In regards to the TNA lawsuit with WWE officially settling last week, it still isn’t known if WWE paid a settlement or if TNA agreed to drop the case. WWE refused to comment publicly about the settlement. According to sources, WWE had “strict orders” from top officials to not have any contact – even social – with anyone under contract with TNA including Ric Flair. Flair’s non-compete with TNA officially ended in September. The order was so strict that WWE official Gerald Brisco was told to not have any contact with his son Wes Brisco who is under contract with TNA Impact Wrestling.

At one point TNA tried to get an injunction that would ban WWE from hiring any former TNA talents no longer under contract. A judge ruled against it when WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt said WWE had no interest in hiring Ric Flair or anyone else either with or formerly with TNA. By the time WWE started talking to Flair again TNA wasn’t doing anything with the case and they moved on. The belief is that Flair may have agreed to a nightly appearance deal with WWE so it wouldn’t prevent him from taking part in outside projects like his recent one with All Japan Pro Wrestling.

I don't even know what to say about what tna did with doing this lawsuit thing. This might mean tna can also not talk to anybody under contract with wwe just like wwe can't talk to tna. That's really messed up

Well, sort of. Since WWE "obtained" the info they are the ones who were being sued & told not to pursue anyone. TNA could have & it wouldn't have been a big thing. TNA didn't have WWE's contract stuff. Anyway, my thing is how Brisco couldn't talk to his own son, that's b*llsh!t right there.

I don't like how TNA used the lawsuit to try to c*ck block WWE from signing talents, the ones it affected most was the talent. I think talent should be able to do what they want since it is their bodies on the line & they only have a finite amount of time to cash in or leave their mark. Be that in TNA or WWE or anywhere else the talent should be able to negotiate in fair faith & find the deal that they feel is best for them. Not the other way around.

I like the whole concept on TNA RIGHT NOW, but I only have 1 problem. Hulk Hogan. He's still want to wrestle and now he wants to put Brooke in. Leave it to the younger talents. I like watching both wrestling companies, just like I watched WCW and WWE at the same time till WCW went bankrupt. Long Live WWE you Loyal TNA fans.
