they already leaked the results of this ppv which will hurt purchase rates

    • WARISNAUGHTY says:

It really won't. Leaked scripts rarely hurt films, leaked track listings rarely hurt albums. People who are on websites such as these won't go 'wow Aries won' and go 'I don't need to see this match now.' Everyone knows The Rock will lose to John Cena, do you think that will hurt sales, honestly?

      • Leg Drop Jobber says:

Leaked track listings don't hurt albums? I guess it's the leaked albums that actually hurt. Sales are down on everything. Why do you think TNA dropped to 4 ppv's a year?

        • soyfenomenal says:

Um…so they could save the price of putting out ppvs so they could be more well-equipped to go on the road…

          • Leg Drop Jobber says:

If sales were good enough to show a profit with the PPV's, they wouldn't have done that. Why would you cancel ANYTHING profitable? Your theory makes no sense.

          • Leg Drop Jobber says:

Aw. Thumbs down with no reply? Did I hurt your feeling again?

        • WARISNAUGHTY says:

Firstly no they don't. Not sure if you have heard of Bring me the Horizon, but their album got leaked a month in advance go check to see how 'badly' it is doing. Sales are down on everything? I don't know what you mean, pound shops are doing well. Well this is me purely postulating so I could be wrong, but maybe because they weren't profitable when they were getting 7,000 buys? Maybe trying to differentiate from the E. Maybe so that they can boost their ratings by having longer, high tentioned feuds?

          • Leg Drop Jobber says:

I don't get what you're going for here. Bring Me The Horizon? How many sales, exactly?

I'm sure 7,000 buys isn't very profitable, especially considering most of those PPVs were taped in the Impact Zone where everyone is let in free. After paying talent, production fees, promotion, etc…. what money do you suppose is left? It takes something like 9 months for ppv revenue to be paid to the company hosting them. Considering "comped tickets" at most of these events, especially the Impact Zone, where do you suppose the money is coming from to pay all the talent?

So you're saying that all this "economy is bad and the entertainment business has gotten hit hard with illegal dowloads and streaming" reports are false?

Look at Bully Ray vs. Jeff Hardy in the "Full Metal Mayhem" match coming up. That's a ppv quality main event. They're giving it away on tv, perhaps hoping to boost the ratings. Let's see if that actually happens. If not, you have two battered and bruised performers that performed in front of a crowd of what? 1,000 for the same ol' 1.0 or so rating?

As for the "long, high tentioned feuds…" TNA needs to figure out how to have MORE THAN ONE high tension, longer feud to accomplish boosting their ratings. Don't ya think?

Let's look at the ratings after the "Full Metal Mayhem" match and have this discussion again. Shall we?

          • WARISNAUGHTY says:

Look it up. Your second paragraph you seem to agree with me, which is always nice. No. What I am saying is that it is easy to guess/ summize problems without knowledge of the industry. Without going into pragmatics I know a few semi-famous bands that make a comfortable living off their work. Sure things have changed but if you know how to make money you will. If you don't you don't same as wrestling same as music same as anything. Next point you make, utterly agree, I have spoken about something like this for a higher rating and it might work *might. Actually no. I think that TNA needs to figure out what it is first, Is it a family friendly show competing with the E? Or is it a hardcore show with blood etc. You can't have both. Also their storytelling is pretty good. They have one A story a few B and a few C stories. Too many of anyone of those and nothing will have any kind of meaning. We both want TNA to do well, I think for the most part agree. Will be interesting to see the rating and the attendance next week!

The only thing we really disagree on is that the entertainment industry in general is doing "great." I am also a musician of 25 plus years. I've toured the country numerous times, released CD's and vinyl, etc… I work in a record store, I record bands, etc. The money just isn't what it used to be. Several independent record stores, record labels, distributors, etc. have went out of business. It's nothing new, but if you look up the last decade compared to other decades, it's a lot more dramatic. Otherwise, great discussion. Cheers.

  2. TheBringer92 says:

tna should sign rubix, also, i thought jerry lynn had retired

    • Leg Drop Jobber says:

Jerry Lynn has been on a "retirement tour" since April or so of last year. He wanted his last match to be the anniversary date of his first pro match, which was March 23rd. Anything else was just "Jerry Lynn's last appearance with such and such company," such as ROH.

      • hangers says:

RVD couldn't even let the man go out with a win in his retirement match, he just hates putting anyone over but himself..

        • Leg Drop Jobber says:

Come on, man. Why would somebody retiring "go over" somebody who is not? I don't think Jerry won any of his matches on his retirement tour. RVD just dropped the X Division title to Kenny King. That theory is just old hat, at this point.

All due respect to you, sir.

  3. HolsG says:
