More On Last Week’s Very Low TNA iMPACT! Rating

As we previously reported here on the website, TNA’s iMPACT! Wrestling rating for this past Thursday was an 0.84 (0.8), the lowest of the year. It was down 18% from last week’s 0.99. It’s slightly lower than the 0.85 (0.9) cable rating the company earned on July 12 during the DirecTV blackout.

iMPACT! dropped to an average of 1.06 million viewers, down 20% from last week. This is not only the fewest viewers of the year (less than the 1.11 million on July 12), it was the fewest viewers of the past two years, going back to June 3, 2010 against the NBA Finals.

The demographic ratings were only slightly lower or about on par with last week, except for males 18-49, whihc was down 1/10th of a rating (17%). It’s also the lowest males 18-49 rating of the year. Impact also had a year low in adults 18-49.

On cable TV, iMPACT! ranked #49 in overall viewers, #70 in adults 18-49, #25 in males 18-34, and #20 in males 18-49. In key male ratings, Impact was beat by History, Discovery, Cartoon Network, TBS repeats, and the FX movie Grown Ups. The NFL game of the week was down to 6.4 million viewers after an average of 8 million viewers last week.

This should tell Dixie that fans are tired of Hulk Hogan and his daughter. Please bring back the focus on the wrestlers that made TNA . I’ m tired of watching the same old crap from Jeff Hardy. I would much rather see AJ, Storm , Roode , Anderson , Angle anyone but Jeff Hardy. I think it’s great he has his life turned around but how many times do we have to watch his same old moves. Please Dixie give us more knockouts . PLEASE bring back the Beautiful People !

For some reasons I love Joey Ryan's segment. Really enjoy watching it.

Well some tna marks have said the rating was low because of the football game. But if thats the problem (which it could be) then how was tna able to get a higher rating going head up with the nba playoffs or even the direct tv blackout?

look at wwe raw they're ratings are down even more than impacts nfl is king so ppl can bitch and whine about ratings but its just a reality .. impact did a good job of hyping the matches so i wont complain its going against the nfl, college football, networks best shows on thursadays what do u expect?

      • DJBIGCG says:

We all know tna goes head up with thursday night football, but WWE goes head up with nfl and other monday shows which I bet gets higher ratings then what tna goes up against. Also, yes wwe's rating did go down but it's still dam near 3 times better then what tna pulled. So rain, how do you feel bfg will do viewer ship and attendance wise with ratings like this leading up to bfg? Which is tna's version of wwe wrestlemania?

It likely won't be much better next week with the debate on Thursday night, considering how many people watched the last one, seems like people are really watching the debates this time around.

why do we have to go through this week after week

tna needs investment. the tv show is there. the production, building and lack of energy is hard to watch.

I like the way people with no business nor wrestling sense think they could 'fix' the current product. Everyone is entitled to their opinion however I would advise people to THINK before they type something they lack the ability to really explain. Saying they should shift focus away from 'x' to 'y' is simplistic boarding on an idiot sentiment. These 'problems' which most will point out as the causal factor for ratings undermine the fact that wrestling is having a massive decline. It has and will raise again, maybe it won't be TNA to challenge WWE, but I would like to see a lot of forum members put a little more thought into ideological disputes with the product, which are personal, not practical solutions.
