Report: Ric Flair Suffers Blood Clot While In Japan

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

To follow up on the earlier report of Ric Flair suffering an injury in Japan keeping him out of the ring for All Japan Pro Wrestling, Flair reportedly suffered a blood clot in his left leg while in the country. Flair was examined at an emergency room before the All Japan event on Saturday. He refused to stay at the hospital and ended up appearing at the All Japan event at ringside managing his son Reid and Keiji Muto against Seiya Sanada and Tatsumi Fujinami.

Flair is scheduled to fly back to the United States today and remains scheduled to take part in autograph signings this week in Las Vegas.

well that what happen when you get up in age, traveling that far for his age isnt such a good thing. that dude a head case just like hogan who wont just move on

ok ok hogan did give up wrestling, since he like one big fall from getting really hurt. but ric still want to go like a crazy man. who at the age of 63 still want to wrestle.

Well here is wishing him the best, I was in ICU for 3 weeks with blood clots, not a matter to take lightly. Good thing he did not wrestling, those can break loose and travel up your bloodstream and cause a stroke if it gets to your brain.

True story. And very good points.

For me, I had my stroke caused by a chiropractor. I'mma bring up the Fed for a sec, not sure if you watch Cesaro but every time he twists his neck I can't help but to cringe & pray kids don't start down that path. Chiro ripped my artery causing it to swell & cut off blood to my brain, in essence a stroke.

Like I said before, this stuff is probably the reason why WWE said no to him. He's not physically fit enough to be in that ring, he'll kill himself if he keeps going any matches.

    • andy3323 says:

Yeah, usually they will put you on blood thinners, heaven knows what would happen given how he already overdoes it with the bleeding in the ring.

      • rawuncutnxrated says:

When he blades he always cuts that vein right in the middle of the forehead. Combine those thinners w/ his drinking, and then pulling a blade job & if he were in TNA he could feasibly bleed to death in the ring. He's in a better spot now where they won't let him blade it & won't let him even compete.

      • Philly_Cheese says:

Not just that, but when you're on blood thinners you can be prone to a huge number of other medical problems as a result of it. The biggest risk while on blood thinners is that even the slightest injury can cause severe internal bleeding. By even being in the ring he runs the risk of literally bleeding to death, and not even realize it's going on.

Does Flair want to die in the ring? Jeez he should not be allowed to wrestle anymore! Give him a managers role. Gm. Office position but no more wrestling!

  5. rawuncutnxrated says:

Sitting a long time on those flights can cause clotting. He needs to quit pushing himself like this. If his son cannot make it on his own then that's the way it is.

Yea, and once you start on thinners you start getting more meds to combat those side effects. I've been on them now 7yrs. I pray that he will find his way to enjoy his rightful retirement.

why didnt anyone complain about how Flairs son and daughter are both wrestling? When people throw hissy fits that Garrett is a wrestler and that Brook is a manager? what the freak??? not to mention Flair is still trying to stink up the ring with his homo wrestling yet people complain that Hogan cant give it up when he MADE wrestling and is just a GM that doesnt wrestle?

      • Philly_Cheese says:

The problem is they're two different stories…
Flair's children weren't given deals because of who they're related to (it happened once but not since). Flair's kids have actually paid their dues and earned their spots as wrestlers. They spent time on the Indy scene, they went through development. Garret & Brooke are another story, they did nothing to earn their spot, they didn't work their way up from the indies, they didn't go to development, they just simply had their parents pull some strings.

Garret although didn't earn his spot, has been showing effort to learn, he's actually capable of learning new things (although he's still not as good as he should be for TV time).
