Report: TNA Could Work With AAA For Lockdown PPV

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

TNA has announced that they will run the 2013 Lockdown PPV at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. The thought is that the promotion may reach out to AAA in Mexico to work together for the event in an effort to sell tickets and generate interest in the market.

Jeff and Karen Jarrett, along with Abyss and others have been working with AAA over the past few years so there is an established relationship there.

WWE took this approach back in 1997 when they held the Royal Rumble at the Alamodom. They used several AAA matches on the non-televised undercard and talent on the main card, including the Rumble match.

* Dark Match: Perro Aguayo, Jr. and Venum defeated Maniaco and Mosco de la Merced
* Dark Match: Octagón, Blue Demon, Jr., and Tinieblas Jr. defeated Heavy Metal, Abismo Negro, and Histeria
* Free For All Match: Mascarita Sagrada and La Parkita defeated Mini Mankind and Mini Vader
* PPV Card: Héctor Garza, Perro Aguayo, and El Canek defeated Jerry Estrada, Heavy Metal, and Fuerza Guerrera
* Appearing in the Rumble: Pierroth, Mil Máscaras, Cibernético, Latin Lover

The 1997 Royal Rumble drew 60,000 fans. At this time, TNA ia expected to use a 4,000 seat configuration for the event.

i'm not a fan of the use of wrestlers we as an audience of one promotion arent conditioned to know so I hope it's only for dark matches. I don't want to see unknown guys on the televised part when I have no clue who they are and no reason to like them. Just me

TNA had done it for years before Hogan and co arrived. It is a great way to discover new talent. But more importantly, its just a nice way to change it up.

I like it when they do that
the TNA World X cup matches in particular

tna have done it before. done it most recently with the last 2 destination x ppvs.

they signed 3 talents i believe from last year zema ion, aries and sorensen. they ended up signing only 1 talent that being kenny king from this year's from destination x but could go on to sign others in the future. like sonjay dutt and mason andrews, rashad cameron.

its a great way to find new talent and some may get signed whilst others dont. but then that talent is on their radar and in the future that talent might become free then the company can sign them.

This sounds a lot like (or I am hoping) that Jeff Jarrett is returning and bringing back a crew of Mexicans from AAA.

Wasn't Jeff Jarrett the AAA champion or a titleholder of some sort with that company? From the way the post reads, TNA is hoping to use the relationship they have with AAA, that being the Jarrett's and Abyss, in order to get some of their talent in TNA PPV. Still, I'd like to see Jeff back in TNA again.
