The Real Reason For DOC’s TNA Release – Details

Source: Pwinsider.com

As previously reported, both DOC (Drew Hankinson) and Tara departed from TNA today. Tara’s release was a cost-cutting move as she was the company’s highest-paid female wrestler by a high margin and the decision was made to put that money elsewhere.

Hankinson’s release, on the other hand, had nothing to do with cost issues. Sources say that Hankinson’s contract negotiations went on too long and his contract had expired. There were creative plans to have him turn babyface in place, which had been teased on TV. The blame on Hankinson’s departure has been laid at Bruce Pritchard’s feet by some; losing Hankinson is one of many situations where contract negotiations came down to the wire and some, like RVD, have left the company over it. The two sides could still come to terms, but as of now he is gone.

Bruce is a dumb ass….I watched some of his decisions under the gut check shows. The last two guys on gut check should have been retained. If Bruce is gone ….that will certainly free up more money.

It's a shame drew never get's his break… This happened as well when he was about to turn face in the wwe as well. Hopefully they can cop up an excuse for the absence and bring him back later.

Dumb idea to drop DOC they could have

Used him to interfer in the bully/sabin

match costing bully ray the title thus

Giving it to Sabin , thus staring a new

Fued with Anderson & Bully Ray

Defecting to MEM as the ultimate

Blow sets up a big tag match with

    Doc & Sting vr’s Bully & Anderson @

    BFG

  5. whatsup121 says:

Tara was the hightest paid Knockout

But she has done her time to deserve it

I remember her doing her finisher

Off the top of the cage @ lockdown

Against King and I’d rather see that

& pay for that instead of squash matches

Like when Mickie James took out

Madison Ryane for the KO Title @ lockdown

Cause Madison didn’t want to be locked

In a cage like an animal

  6. TheBringer92 says:

Tara gone so they can give the Hogans a bigger pay day? Bruce Prickhard

  7. hangers says:

Personally dont think either is a big loss, DOC will never be over and Tara is too old..

  8. tnadude says:

OK – so let's just say it together: DOC was NOT released.

He just wasn't renewed. And that could change as I highly suspect his options are limited anyway.

  9. ViceyThaShizzle says:

If done correctly and he was brought back soon it could make a good storyline to turn him face against the A&8s. I'm reminded of the Godfather where one of the don's bodyguards was "sick", allowing his rivals to attempt to assassinate him. Say DOC is absent for a few weeks and we're told that he's ill, in that time Bully is attacked by MEM or worse he loses his title to Sabin (not going to happen I know.) A few weeks later DOC conveniently reappears. A lot of it would have to be explained in backstage segments but it could be worked into… ah **** it, never mind.

But it's obvious they had plans for him to turn against the A&8s, why not follow through with them?

  10. XcluZive says:

How about TNA use some of the money from cutting people and get rid of that horrible ram to the ring and actually invest in PYRO! Tna looks 2nd rate with no PYRO! I mean the Impact Zone had PYRO but then again the Impact Zone was the size of my shoe box. Ive been a fan since the $9.95 weds weekly ppvs, but TNA got to do better.

  11. purpleurkel says:

now knox and briscoe…. since they never wrestle
