This Week’s TNA iMPACT! Rises Big Time

Last night’s episode of iMPACT! Wrestling scored a 1.07 (1.1) cable rating with 1.38 million viewers. Thus numbers are huge jumps, up 28% and 30% respectively from a 0.84 and 1.05 million viewers last week. The show had the highest rating and viewership since the beginning of April. Last week’s show did a 0.8 cable rating.

The episode ranked #31 among cable shows for the night in overall viewers, #15 among males 18 – 34 and #18 among males 18 – 49. The show was up two-tenths among males 18 – 34 and one-tenth for the 18 – 49 demo. There were no NBA Playoff games on last night so that likely helped with the rating increase.

Who knew that showing actual X Division matches would be helpful to their ratings?

Anyone else notice that for weeks, the best segments of the show include Dirty Heels and Bad Influence? Robbie E killed it too, then Gunner… GUNNER!

    • Blood Runs Cold says:

Yes, I have and I’ve mentioned it numerous times. It’s because they are 4 of the best ring & mic workers TNA has. Not to mention they all play extremely well off each other (especially Dirty Heels & Bad Influence) it’s good to see Samoa Joe back, IMO he should have been Hogans “guy” 2 weeks ago, not Abyss. The nWo/Sting storyline continues as AJ stands alone. It was cool to see Shark Boy back, Suicide too. They really need to bring back Black Machismo.

Gunner's fine until he opens his mouth. And Robbie E can do better than that. I am not Cowboys biggest fan as a singles wrestler but the t-shirt was cool.

I dvr every impact in case I miss something or something comes up. Nothing came up. Watched all of it. Then rematched it again 🙂 awesome!

They have been having some great shows lately. And, I know some people roll their eyes at this reasoning behind the lower rating, likely just because they aren't a fan of other sports, but there was no NBA playoff game on Thursday night, as there has been recently. Hey, the same demo watches sports like that and what we see in the ratings back it up.

Either way, keeps up the great work, TNA!

    • JoeWrestling says:

I think you are correct on the reason, although it's still a detriment to TNA that they can't retain their viewers (if they have that many Basketball fans watching, maybe they should hire Sugar Dunkerton?). Regardless, I thought the show was great this week, started slow with the first segment, but everything after that I thought was good. Much better than last week. I thought Suicide was superb, beating expectations. Some people crap on the Suicide character, but I think if he wrestles like that, I think he has more upside than Sabin. Plus, it's a character worth investing in, because as long as you have the right guy doing it, the character can go on forever (ironic, I know) and easy to tweak the costume to keep current. Kind of like L.A. Park. I also think they've done about all they can with Joey Ryan, we've seen his act, time to move on. We don't need to turn TNA into NWA Hollywood. Also really liked seeing sharkboy on for a one time appearance.
