I attended the tna show in Erie, Pa 4/27.
I’ve been to every show (about 5 of them) since they started coming here 4 years ago. Some notable differences between this show and past years. Don West used to push the merchandise like crazy at these shows to the point where almost everybody when home with something. Whoever the guy is that took his place didn’t pitch anything all night except the obliguatory Earl Hebner t-shirts that’s customary at every one of these shows. Nobody had merchandise in their hands. If you want a replacement for Don West, hit me up at firstname.lastname@example.org, as i’ve been in sales for 25 years. They have to be missing Don when they see how little merchandise is sold at these shows since his departure. Also, no JB for a ring announcer. While So Cal Val did a passable job, the energy was not there compared to how JB obnoxiously but effectively incites the crowd to cheer on previous shows. Also, only 5 matches took place. Not sure if there were supposed to be more, as no lineup is ever announced for these shows, but there was a lot of time killing before each match with the heels getting cheap heat on the mike for 10 minutes before each match started.
1) Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez over Kaz and Chris Daniels
2) Velvet Sky over Gail Kim
3) What started as Austin Aries vs AJ Styles turned into a tag match 3 minutes into it with AJ Styles and Joe Park over Austin Aries and Bobby Roode
after only 55 minutes into the show, we had a 30 minute intermission
4) Dvon retained the TV Title over James Storm
5) Bully Ray retained the TNA title over Kurt Angle
While this show didn’t live up to previous shows, i would still attend the next one. I can still respect the talent, and for $15 bucks, to me it was still worth it.
