TNA iMPACT! Rating + Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Joke

— Comedian Mike Lawrence referenced the infamous Hulk Hogan sex tape on the Conan O’Brien show earlier this week. Lawrence said that in the sex tape, Hogan had trouble opening the condom wrapper, saying he bet Hogan wishes condom wrappers were made out of yellow t-shirts.

— Last night’s episode of iMPACT! Wrestling drew 1.12 million viewers, down 19% from the 1.33 million viewers last week. The show drew a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demo, even with last week which suggests that the loss in fans were from casual viewers outside of the demo.

UPDATE: The Thursday, September 26th edition of TNA iMPACT! Wrestling on Spike TV drew a final 0.89 (0.9) cable rating , down 15 percent from last week’s 1.05 cable rating, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Did the comedian also mention TNA Wrestling? Then it's not relevant.

    • Leg Drop Jobber says:

I find it both highly entertaining and ironic that you mention the words "not relevant" in reference to a news article about Hulk Hogan.

  2. DJBIGCG says:

A 0.89 isn't to good of rating, but we will see what happens next week

    • Philly_Cheese says:

It's typical for TNA now because of the damage Hogan did. Unfortunately the company spent so much money and upset so many wrestlers that most perform at lower than their norm. The product is suffering because so many wrestlers are unhappy, so they're not doing their best.

  3. tna24 says:

who cares about the ratings anymore, it still the same thing it either up a little or down a little. why dont we just post the ratings when the ratings are very low or very high. which wont happen till tna goes back to what made tna .. tna!!

    • andy3323 says:

People just don't know what they are missing, I thought the last couple of weeks have been great. Last nights episode had plenty of action, that AA/Kenny King match (as expected with AA) was very entertaining. Their loss missing this!

      • jflegler says:

Personally, I don't care about the ratings slightly fluctuating like this. Impact has been pretty solid – especially last n1ght. Honestly, it was the best Impact in a VERY long time. Hats off to them, please keep it up!

BTW – Dixie heel turn is looking very promising.

        • tna4life says:

Agreed I like this new Dixie they have her playing up to the internet and the fans that hate her and they are turning it into a great storyline so far.

      • tna4life says:

The endings to Impact have been great I keep rewinding it on my dvr. I havent been excited about TNA in a long time, now I cant wait until next week lol

      • Mutter5 says:

Iv said this many times, I used to watch TNA religiously. Now I record it and fast forward to anything that inclused AJ, EGO or AA.
TNA isn't what it used to be.

Football is king. And not to mention, last night's new premieres. That said, did anyone hear about WWE Raw's numbers? They're getting worse as well.

    • DJBIGCG says:

Wwe raw goes head up with Monday night football. Tna doesn't. Thursday night football is off when tna comes on

    • MRPC says:

WWE's core fans are probably thinking along similar lines. Apparently Raw had "Good Action and Good Storytelling". (I can't judge as I don't watch WWE and have been out of touch with their product for the last 10-11 years). As you mention their ratings are also down overall as well as in their key demographic range. *Overall rating posted elsewhere = 2.81.

When it comes to attracting casual viewers WWE are the representative of Wrestling to the masses. If their product is down then there is no doubt a knock on effect for all wrestling companies (including TNA).

TNA is doing some of the best work it has done in the entire year or couple yrs, be it Dixie-AJ storyline , Be it the way Aces and 8s storyline is progressing , be it Sabin Heel turn , Be it EGO , etc etc really looking forward to it … This scenario appears similar to the WWF putting its best creative efforts in 97-98 but its rating wise peak happened in 99 and post 99 .
I wish the good work that TNA is doing now is reflected in ratings in the due course…..
And dont just bother about USA ratings … TNA is a global brand aired in a 100 countries.. I wish some one would publish TNAs revenue in USA vs TNA revenue earned in rest of the world.

I can only help with viewing figures for here in Great Britain. The latest figures available are for the week 9th – 15th September and Impact was the highest viewed show on their channel by 100,000 people. Impact is always the highest viewed show on the channel by a good distance. These figures are for the first broadcast on Sunday ***hts, though some still watch the reply on Tuesday ***hts (former first showing slot) instead, but these numbers aren't available, which means the numbers can't be that high.

      Recent Impact viewing figures:

      15th September = 254,000
8th September = no figures for entire channel that week for some reason.
1st September = no figures for entire channel that week for some reason.
      25th Auguest = 235,000
18th August = 268,000 (118,000 higher than #2 show for the channel that week)
      11th August = 227,000
      4th August = 250,000

"PPV" viewing figures. *They're free over here*:

TNA One ***ht Only 10 Reunion = 164,000 (Most recent "PPV")
TNA Slammiversary XI = 200,000 (Most recent proper "PPV")
TNA Bound For Glory (2012) = 211,000 (Last years biggest "PPV")

I post these in comments on here from time to time. Seeing as they are easily available for anyone to find a couple of weeks after broadcast, it would be really easy for them to be reported on this site. But that would include effort (even though it's very easy) and not just copy & pasting from other sites!

Thanks for posting these data .
It clearly shows that TNA is on the upswing in UK ,Europe and they are getting a footing in rest of the globe too . I advise the TNA fans to enjoy it , if need be compare the quality of matches with that of what WWE offers .. that gives a very clear view of which is a better product .

TNA US ratings if it is topping in SPIKE and if its around or above 1.0 is sufficient to keep the product going …. All i care is about the content TNA is delivering and TBH its way better than WWE overall.

  6. Hans Derrick says:

What people don’t realize. You guys are comparing a 11 year pro wrestling company to almost a 30 year company. Tna has been around for 11 years now and WWE has been around for almost 30 due to wrestlemania in new Orleans. Instead of insulting tna, enjoy it. Why is it so bad that you people feel tna is so bad. Their are two big former WWE names that are now on tna who went and became the best world champions for the first time in their career. Mr. Anderson and bully ray. I bet you guys never dreamed of that. I’ve watched WWE

for 7 years and now its been almost 2 years since I’ve watched Tna and in these almost two years, I will never go back to WWe. Tna may be small, but their talent is bigger than ever and always will be. PS. Dixie Carter I love you as a heel character. Your another step closer in making your goal.
