TNA’s #August1Warning Revealed On TNA iMPACT!

It was revealed on Thursday’s edition of TNA Impact Wrestling on Spike TV that the mystery-man behind the “#August1Warning” messages on YouTube and Twitter throughout the past week was none other than UFC Hall Of Famer and current Bellator MMA fighter, Tito Ortiz.

Ortiz was revealed to be the surprise for Bellator during their show on Spike TV on Wednesday, as it was announced that he would make his debut for the mixed-martial-arts promotion on pay-per-view on November 2nd against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, another MMA legend who will be making his fighting debut with the promotion.

The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion came out during the main event segment on Thursday’s Impact Wrestling, as the Main Event Mafia and the Aces & 8’s were in the middle of a stare down. The two factions had just made the announcement that whoever gets pinned in their five-on-five man match at the upcoming “Hardcore Justice” show on August 15th would be forced to leave TNA “for good.”

After the announcement, Tito Ortiz came out as the surprise mystery-man. He stood on the ramp and stared in the ring, where Rampage was glaring back at him. The show went off the air with the announcers selling the reveal and plugging next week’s Impact Wrestling show on Spike TV.

Tito Ortiz! Wow that…that incredible UNDERWHELMING feeling!

Much better than low ki. (sarcasm)

  2. nicholal79 says:

Awful Impact! The only redeeming thing was Aries – Styles minus the finish!

  3. CKinzu says:

Wow leave it to TNA to kill their own buzz. It was pretty obvious it was Tito after the announced fight on Bellator the day before. That's ok though because TNA is going to use Tito effectively and have him make a major impact on IMPACT! right? The whole wrestling world is going to be a buzz over what Tito did on Thursday night right? Of course not. TNA just has him come out and stand on the ramp way. Why couldn't they have Tito come in to break up the Ace's and MEM? Why not have Tito reveal himself as an Ace's member? Seriously TNA why not do something that makes people want to watch your show next week?

They continue to hype these big names, but they never follow through on them anymore. Yeah it was Tito and yeah we all knew that, but that doesn't mean his reveal had to be a complete buzz kill for the show.

  4. whatsup121 says:

hope he can bring in some more fans

  5. tHe_SoRrOw says:

OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER. I LOVE TITO. HE IS okay I cant keep this up. This is just awful. Not a big name (at least in wrestling terms) not going to bring anything to the table for TNA and I for one, will be tuning out for the forseeable future. Anyone got any suggestions to which Indies I should watch? Im in the UK so its hard to find the shows

  6. Tiffanydude says:

I hope and I mean REALLY HOPE that signing Ortiz means more MMA fans watching TNA b/c so far it immediately had a negative affect on TNA and it's current fan base.

    • jflegler says:

More MMA fans watching is one thing, keeping them interested after the November Ortiz/Rampage fight is another.

Besides, how many wrestling fans are they willing to sacrifice for MMA fans?

    • Bigmike885 says:

once again..you do know that Ortiz has been in TNA before right? when he was relevant and at the top of the MMA game…he didn't bring one single viewer then..he sure as hell isn't going to now…

  7. DJBIGCG says:

Bad job on this August 1 get up tna

  8. TheBringer92 says:

    Who?

  9. Goeroe1981 says:

And again there is absolutly no deliverance on a build up. Why did i even hope for a good ending to it all. I am so disappointed i will go back to raw and just skip half of the show (or more). This for me will be my final let down. Good luck with MMA TNA. Maybe this is an overreaction but i'm so pissed right now.

Edit. Sorry i still need to vent my feelings here again. AJ, Joe, Kurt and any other decent wrestler please make the jump to WWE or Japan or ROH. TNA is sinking faster than the titanic and i would hate to see you going down with it just because the boss can't handle her "toy".

    • jflegler says:

      I agree.

I watch both, WWE for the last 2 years and TNA for the last 7 years – with a very strong preference towards TNA. Unfortunately, my preferences are changing and I never thought that I would say this… aside from my favorites i.e., Styles, Aries, Roode, etc… WWE has a much better product.

      • Bigmike885 says:

its amazing that someone on here finally sees this. In the not so distant past TNA had a better roster and better creative…now they can barley claim they have a better roster.

      • CELL says:

Also agree. Now WWE still has its SERIOUS problems but their getting better. Daniel Bryan is a big part of the reason why.

  10. hangers says:

Didn't deserve the hype as usual but I think if played right the mixing of MMA into the product could be a good thing, as long as it's not Tito vs Rampage for the next PPV and then forgotten as just having an MMA match on the TNA card doesn't really enhance TNA's product..

    • jflegler says:

It will be forgotten and you will never see any of them "wrestle" in a TNA ring. You will get an MMA fight, but not "pro wrestling". This is a platform to promote the product and that is all.

    • Bigmike885 says:

theyre not even going to have the match on TNA PPV..this is all promotion for a balatore fight..TNA wont see one thing out of this..and Balatore will get free promotion

  11. mb113 says:

This isn't about TNA, it is about promotion of a MMA fight using TNA. Don't expect too much ring action in TNA.

    • jflegler says:

      Exactly.

The TNA platform is being used to promote the fight between Ortiz and Rampage (this November I believe). Do not expect anything more than back and forth ranting, scripted vignettes, and the occasional attack on one another.

Oh…and yes…they will probably set up an "in-ring" press conference with the typical stare down ending!!! I am so excited! LOL!

    #August1Warning is #Disappointing

  13. TLS says:

Everybody complains and cries. Next week all of you will be here to complain and cry again. I DON’T mean to insult people but I’m making a point. If we’re THAT sick of the product why do we continue to watch? Why do we continue to visit sites like this?

As for me, I WILL continue to watch TNA. I’m a fan of Wrestling. The History, the Psychology, the pure Physical power involved all make for a great show. From the Indies with 25 fans to the Majors with 15000 it all makes for a good time!

  14. Sim3rd says:

Tito Ortiz in aces&8s the story line will be taz was recruiting him that’s why he wasn’t there the last few shows

  15. TwIsTeD_EnEmY says:

Hasn't he already been in TNA before?

  16. Mr. Excitement says:

Too bad everyone knew it was him before the Impact broadcast.

  17. CKinzu says:

Wow leave it to TNA to kill their own buzz. It was pretty obvious it was Tito after the announced fight on Bellator the day before. 18. TheFurnitureom says:

I think the fact that Tito is considerably older and less of a draw/persona takes away from this. Not to mention Bellator killing the mystery a day before kind sucks a bit. But hey, it's better then nothing! 3 solid matches for a week's work isn't bad.

I know the WWE fans are out in force (because hype like this interests them too), but don't let their comments cloud the real story. TNA is not failing, it's growing.

You can bet the day Chael Sonnen shows up on WWE TV, the universe will cream their respective pants.

    • jflegler says:

You have stated, "I know the WWE fans are out in force (because hype like this interests them too), but don't let their comments cloud the real story"

It's not their comments that bother me, it's the fact that they uncharacteristically tuned into Impact out of curiosity, were extremely disappointed, and probably will not return to watch the product. THAT was heavily voiced in social media. A chunk of WWE fans actually stated that they tuned in for the very first time – opportunity missed TNA. Now that TNA's credibility has been decreased once again, it will be even harder to lure WWE fans the next time.

      • TheFurnitureom says:

If you're making a gage about the WWE fans based on the internet – I wouldn't worry about them, those same fans aren't there to be tempted. TNA has given those guys 1000's of reasons to switch, the internet WWE crowd is an adult base that has grown up around Vince McMahon and are too loyal and too stubborn to switch and will use TNA's faults are their reason why.

        It's team mentality.

Remember when the X Division was booming – "oh WWE has personalities, XDivision is fun, but where are the characters, TNA lacks entertainment"

Now it's the other way around! TNA has always been hated, it's nothing new!!

And if people did switch over for night only! I think AJ vs Aries was enough to suggest that TNA is where it's at.

  19. annil8or4321 says:

not impressed at all, i liked tito back in the day but this angle just comes off as shady, aj and a double match f n rocked though really solid
