Update: AJ Styles & TNA In Talks Yet Again

Partial Source: The Wrestling Observer

UPDATE: We can now confirm that AJ Styles and TNA are officially back in negotiations for Styles to sign a new deal with the promotion.

Apparently there is some talk that Styles may have already signed a new deal at some point in the last 48 hours.

As noted earlier today, Styles has at least nine known bookings with independent pro wrestling promotions between now and March, so if he were to re-sign with TNA, he is already committed to those appearances.

We should have more on this story in the near future as further information surfaces.

ORIGINAL: While this is just a rumor and should be treated as such, there are some who now believe that AJ Styles has re-signed with TNA and his public statement about being a free agent yesterday was a work.

A source said: “The statement Styles issued yesterday was a work, and a blasphemous one at that.”

Styles has agreed to appear at the UWE event on March 15, which is something TNA officials likely agreed to in order to continue the story that Styles is done with the company. He is also booked for eight other appearances in 2014. If this is a work, it remains to be seen if he cancels any of them or works the shows even after re-signing with TNA.

Again, take this strictly as a rumor for now.

Good for styles if he resigned with tna

  2. tna24 says:

i knew this might all be part of the story line tna doing. it a nice story line for tna if AJ get a contract. since AJ too big of a star for TNA to just let him go. it be different if AJ just didnt want to wrestle anymore

    • Dependant says:

I doubt this is part of a storyline if he accepted dates but they may realize that he is worth the money now.

    • Philly_Cheese says:

No it was just rumors sites coming up with their completely fabricated stories and "reports", then TNA and AJ simply played into it to make the ongoing story more believable. This report right here was a means to cover themselves so they can stand on both sides of the fence, and no matter the results; they'll claim they were correct. It's just like when this site claimed TNA was for sale, then followed it up with a report saying that the Carter's planned on remaining major share holders, and that even if there was a "sale" we would never notice.

If this is a storyline, then I have to say well done TNA. Its good to see them cover up a storyline so well.

  4. iamanadult says:

i was kinda hoping tna would trust aj to make a special appearance in the wwe royal rumble, get a tna chant going and then jump back ship to tna or something of that kind. i can only dream

    • Phenomenal99 says:

like your idea but never gonna happen both companies wouldn't agree to it, though good iniative.

      • iamanadult says:

Well my thinking was wwe wouldn't know that he'd jump back to tna and if there's anyone tna could use to pull off such a move and to trust, it'd be Aj. But yeah will never happen lol

        • Bigmike885 says:

Trust?…they wouldn't sign someone whos never been in WWE for a one night thing in the rumble. They wouldn't let him show up on tv or PPV without a long term contract.

          • iamanadult says:

I'm not on about wwe trusting Aj lol. Tna would be taking the gamble. Wwe would have Aj come in for an appearance like they would with sting or something. Don't worry if you don't understand

          • Bigmike885 says:

Yes. They would bring someone like sting in for an apperance. Because someone like sting has earned that and people know who he is. Contrary to what a lot of tna fans think most people don't know who aj is. A one off apperance wouldn't be worth it without a long term contract.Sent from my iPhone

AJ was in WWE before… only a match or two, but he was there, after the wcw buyout

    • fritiz1 says:

He should wrestle Hogan at mania in the man who built TNA vs. the man who ruined TNA match.

  5. gar2233 says:

im pretty sure aj has resigned and will be back in tna real soon

  6. Sturk says:

WHY did they say AJ Styles and TNA are in talks "AGAIN"??? I can't believe you guys are actually commenting like there was really a "again." hahhaaha. Think about it…… His contract ran out yesterday which was the 16th. It's the 17th. ONE DAY!!! His contract running out yesterday didn't mean they stopped talking, it just meant they can't keep him while they try to resign him. It means he can work for other people now. But there was NOT an AGAIN. I understand most of you guys don't know how business works which is why you fall for these post but sometime you gotta not respond off emotion and respond off common sense. AJ and TNA never stopped negotiating for there to EVER have been an "again." THINK

  7. mb113 says:

Thanks for playing along with the story line.

  8. Ballz McKenzy says:

This “storyline” is crap. Why don’t they piss all over AJ while they are at it, like they did with Aces and Eights?

    • Tna4life says:

Aces & Eights died as soon as DOC left after that it was pure crap! If TNA could have kept DOC then maybe it would have worked. By the way has anyone seen or heard from Wes Brisco or Bish? The two of them together couldn’t cut a good promo! Well I take that back Bish is ok!

  9. Peckar says:

Everybody asks for more realism and so they provide us with this major storyline and still people bitch and moan.

    • tnadude says:

      Because that's what people do…

I love the realism. I love the edge. Beats the heck out of a bunch of loser bikers with masks interfering in matches with no purpose…

      • Bigmike885 says:

If the whole thing is a storyline its stupid on both TNA and Styles part. This happened once before (that I know of) with Brian Pillman. He was riding a huge wave of popularity in WCW and convinced them to let his contract run out (saying he would re-sign) to make the story seem more believable , then his contract came up, WWE offered him a much better contract and Boom..there he went to wwe. What if this would have happened here. Considering right now on TV AJ still has their title (kinda sorta). What if he were to have shown up on raw before the title match takes place? ..My guess is Styles assumed there'd be more money out there for him, he ( like most of the IWN) still seem to think that there is a "war" going on. theres not.

        • Peckar says:

Pillman and AJ are completely different people. Your assumptions appear to be wrong.

          • Bigmike885 says:

Seriously dude? Don't act like you personally know aj or what he is thinking. This whole thing started over money, what makes you think that if after all this he wouldn't have jumped in the event of wwe decided to throw him a huge offer? The man has a family to think about.Sent from my iPhone

          • TheFurnitureom says:

And what makes you think that it would of been a major blow to TNA if AJ did indeed go to WWE with TNA Belt? The Wrestling wars are over.

There is no Monday to fight over, people have plenty of time for both shows.

BigMike, that was over 15 years ago.

If anything having a star that you could no longer afford, go to the WWE and become a brand name helps TNA – it gets people thinking.

Not everything TNA does is bad business, nor is Dixie Carter stupid.

Dixie let Gail go – and it didn't destroy the credibility of TNA's women division, and sway people away from watching the knockouts. In the long run, people don't care about wrestler trades.

          • Peckar says:

Well they would have you believe this whole thing started over money. Enjoy the ride, you are obviously on it.

          • tnadude says:

Couldn't have said it better myself!

        • tnadude says:

And part of being story line is that HE DID RESIGN. He's NOT ACTUALLY a free agent! Believe it or not – TNA just WANTs you to think that. Maybe if you watched the product once in a while you'd be able to figure it out on your own.

If he were a free agent, it wouldn't actually be a story line! Get it now?

  10. Misanthropic says:

I love what TNA and AJ Styles are doing. Makes for us fans talk about it and wonder if its real or just a work. Weshall see:)
