WWE Copies Idea From TNA – Vince McMahon’s Reaction

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

WWE having a man narrating video packages on RAW was, in fact, copied from TNA Wrestling. According to sources, a WWE employee showed Vince McMahon a tape of iMPACT! Wrestling featuring the concept and the company chief reportedly said something along the lines of, “WWE could do it better.”

Eric Bischoff, who produces iMPACT Wrestling, acknowledged the production rip-off last week on Twitter by posting the following fan message: “Saw #WWE using your backstage camera angles along with the voiceover in the opening video. #EricWins.”

Now it's time to hear all the TNA fan boys whine and complain about WWE and how they copy "everything" TNA does.

Meh it's pretty back and forth, but as of late wwe is plain out ripping off tna. It's kinda sad to see wwe fall from the great wwf to almost coping every thing tna is doing.

Kinda sad? This ain't nothing new. WWE has done this their entire history pepsilover. That is pretty much what mainstream wrestling does. What would WWE have been without NWA and AWA wrestlers? What would they have been without using concepts that first worked in Memphis and Dallas? They would have been what they were prior to the 80's? An old man territory who ran towns on a monthly basis, with one camera angle and dimly lit arenas. Where would they have been without ECW? Vince McMahons greatest attribute is knowing how to take good ideas and market them on a higher level, not creating new ideas.

You gotta be joking right? TNA has done nothing but copy WWE for the last 4 years or so and in my opinion is trying to be just like them. I dont care for WWE so no fanboy or WWE mark replys please.

copying/stealing/imitation happens throughout the industry of entertainment. i mean, tv, movies, games, books. but at same time theres only so much you can do in a particular field.

but wwe have been blatantly copying some tna ideas for years this isnt new. the beautiful people/cody rhodes angles, this production concept to name a couple of ideas.

tbh copying/stealing/imitation isnt much of a problem imo as long as the idea can be expanded upon and improved in some way.

Good god this gets old..Every wrestling promtion ever has copied from someone. Even the holy grail "nwo" was ripped off from Eric..does New Japan win?

  3. soyfenomenal says:

TNA does better with the copying aside from the whole screwjob with angle. That was just horrific and blatant.
The sting 3/3/11 promo was hilarious to say the least. A big "fuck you" to all the dumb asses saying Sting was going to WWE. I loved it.
But recently WWE has been all over TNA … why? Oh, right, because they recognize their product is God awful.

  4. Firestormdzl says:

At least iMPACT did send a message about that on live iMPACT when AJ Styles said this

"it seems to be the new fad if your name is AJ"

Maybe (just maybe) iMPACT can make some cryptic statement on their show like what AJ did about wwe copying iMPACT Wrestling.

  5. Nova_numb says:

I think it is funny that people that are obviously WWE fans come on here ready to jump all over TNA like it is their personal job to call TNA out on anything. But when WWE rips something off they are like " Oh it doesn't matter"

I think it is true that everyone sends ideas back and forth, and obviously if you watch any movies you notice Hollywood is remaking anything from the past because apparently a new idea is that hard to come up with. I love wrestling, and yeah I don't watch WWE because I think the product is just bad right now. But I don't care if they are ripping it off. Just like people shouldn't care if TNA is coming up with a way to use something WWE has used or call everyone from WWE that gets a job with TNA a "WWE Hasbeen" People change jobs daily, especially in this economy. So if you went from flipping burgers at McDonalds to doing it at Wendys does someone come in and say oh look the Mcdonalds Hasbeen? These guys are working and doing what they love. If TNA can use them better than WWE did, then more power to them. But yeah who cares if WWE used the voice overs…That just means they are watching even when they pretend they don't.

  6. DJBIGCG says:

TNA has copied and still does copy wwe numerous times. Now supposedly wwe is coping tna. Those two should just go head up on mondays or something rather then copy each other

    • Bigmike885 says:

      they tried that…TNA got creamed.

    • Pipboy86 says:

No. That is suicide. Suicide charges only work in movies like Braveheart. The real William Wallace was a brigand and a dastardly fellow who fought the English like the Mujahideen fought the Soviets and are fighting the American alliance forces.

TNA has to stand out and be different to take a piece of the audience from the WWE. Right now, they aren't different enough. There is more crossover than people think. WWE is in the drivers seat, TNA isn't even riding shotgun yet.

  7. tna24 says:

i find it funny the back and forth wwe and tna are doing with copying ideas. tna copies the CM Punk angle but aries loses the title, then wwe copies AJ style angel were he caught sleeping with a girl and what funny wwe uses that type of angle but with a girl name AJ

    • pepsilover2008 says:

Well to be fair to both Aries and tna , Aries heel turn imo didn't even change his character, the whole time in TNA he's always said he was gonna put himself in the spotlight far before bound for glory. Where cm punk was a total change in character, Aries was the same person he always has been

  8. RealCreative says:

i noticed this the last 2 weeks and thought to myself this is a TNA rip off…right now WWE has got the worst storylines and matches anyway…TNA shitting on Vince as far as the product goes IMO

  9. stingerfan says:

wwe copies tna cause vince his baby the wwe is not better then tna impact tna is coming up better on a yearly you dont no what tna is gonna do next and wwe has a lot of over the hill wrestlers that cant get over their glory days

  10. I_Post_Comments says:

As far as doing things New an innovating. TNA takes the cake. As far as provided a quality product each week. Neither company can do it anymore.

It wasn't too long ago, the TNA knockouts had more interesting matches than the WWE main event. That unpredictability and excitement that was the X-Division has been tarnished. Both now feel like choreographed fights.

  11. destroyer_v39 says:

    Everybodies a copycat.
Eric Bishoff copied the NWO storyline from japan and made it popular in Marica.
Kurt Angle copied Ken Shamrocks Ankle lock followed by Jack Swagger and Orton copied his angle slam.
    Sting copied Undertakers vignette return
    TNA copied the Montreal Screwjob
WWE copied the intro for TNA and the AJ storyline. The only reason why Vince think he could do it better because he put "John Cena" in it.
