Major Update: TNA & Universal Studios In Talks

UPDATE: The current word among those within TNA is that several episodes of iMPACT! will be taped in mid-to-late November at the iMPACT! Zone. This would lead to current planned or announced tapings to be either canceled or turned into house shows, depending on the specific market.

TNA is finalizing plans before they announce anything.

ORIGINAL: TNA and Universal Studios have opened discussions regarding the promotion returning to the old iMPACT! Zone in November to tape several episodes of iMPACT! Wrestling. The word is that the company is looking to tape anywhere from four to six episodes of iMPACT! during the week of November 21st.

The iMPACT! Zone was located at Universal Studios Soundstage 21 in Orlando. At this time, the studio is being used as a Resident Evil haunted house for Universal’s Halloween Horrors until November 2nd.

At this time there is no confirmation that a deal is official. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more. Stay tuned!

Well, I wonder how it would be if tna returns to universal studios and stays there like it use to do

Better yet they could bring back the six sided ring then fire everyone, and show a still camera focused on the ring in an empty arena for two hours every single week. The ratings will skyrocket because everyone knows that fans tune in to see the ring not the wrestling.

I wonder if they won't try to stay there at least until after the European tour in early 2014 then figure out if it will work for a permanent home or find something else. I wish TNA could make it on the road but am glad I they take steps to cut back and stay in business. I would much rather see them back in the Impact Zone and able to get some more talent signed.

  4. nwoforlife says:

why don't they just film tna in Dixie bedroom closet its got to have more room then the impact-zone this is a sign of giving up and willing to be just a small independent fly by but not going anywhere company

    • Dick C. Carter says:

They don't need "more room." Part of the reason they are returning to the Impact Zone is because they can't draw enough people to venues on the road.

  5. Whatever says:

I just saw the rating this week is 0.84. I don’t think returning to the impact zone and being a Universal Studios attraction is going to help fix this. Besides if they do go back are they finally going to start charging people to get into the sound stage to attend the show. Cause I just don’t see merchandise sales increasing revenue. Then they are right back where they started except less money coming from mama Carter.

Great. My favorite current wrestling promotion is thinking about moving into a hospice home.

  7. Euphoria says:

Ah the old bring back the six sided ring. Does it really make a difference? I think not!

  8. dcxboxx says:

question is will universal pay them what they were before. i mean they left universal and now are coming back with their tails between their legs wanting back in because they can't draw arenas even small venues

  9. nate says:

For what they have going on, its probably the best place for them! It brings a little mote security to the locker room!

  10. rebelman says:

I hope they bring back the Aces and Eights. Have a new president let it be Devon.

  11. godoftna says:

This is bad news. I'd have no problem if they taped a couple of weeks at Universal, but taping nearly two months worth(if that's the case) could have a very negative impact on the show and the promotion.

    • DirkB says:

It's what they were doing when many considered TNA to be at it's best.

      • godoftna says:

Not quite. Back then, TNA was taping a week to 2 weeks at most at a time, just like they do now on the road. Occasionally they would tape a months worth over a couple of days, but not several weeks worth. My only hope is that this will only be a temporary measuer and that TNA will come strong out of the gate in 2014.
